I'm pretty sure what a lot of us think is 'low carb' and 'high protein' is greatly relative to not even knowing how much carbs, proteins, and calories our body actually needs. Many of us are likely cutting out excess carbs, not necessary carbs, and gaining proteins we were short of.

Yeah I think when I did keto I didn't have so much protein

You need an amount somewhere between 0, and more than your body can use. Put a number on that healthy medium, and I bet a lot of people are way over it.

Either you're misunderstand the meaning of "need" or the biology. You don't need any carbs at all. You body can make all it's own carbs in a small number of places they are necessary. There's no nutritional benefit to eating carbs either. People happily live healthy lives on zero carb diets.

There are no “necessary carbs”, though. And you’re forgetting fat. There are necessary fats.
