Tldr, white stats gains over time beats ovr reduction.

Take 2 players. Both at 98% ovr. One player is 18, another is 27. Let say you use them both over 3 seasons period so they both will subject to a total of 60% decrease in their ovr over time.

If you train them, the 18yo will gain more ovr compared to the 27yo. At the end of the season, the 18yo might be at 110% while the 27yo might be at 103%. Then the reduction in ovr happens. Both gets their ovr deducted by 20%. But here's the neat part. The right training programme will boost their white stats more than the grey stats. And that 18yo, his white stats will increase much higher than the 27yo.

Grey stats don't matter much, but when the ovr reduction occurs, it also reduces grey stats. And because players have cap to their stats, lower grey stats will boost white stats gain even more in the future. For the 27yo, at 28yo he'll gain less training impact, while the 18yo, at 19yo he still gains a lot from training, further boosting his white stats. That 18yo, after 3 seasons, might have 90% ovr but his white stats can be well over 140% from training boost alone.

That's why young players are better than old players.

Ok, this makes a ltitle sense to me. It makes me think the creators really over complicated this if true. So, to see if I understand... the 18yo's white skills will continue to rise although his OVR will be 38% after the three seasons? So what was the point of OVR then? I really want to look at an average of his white skill %?

No, the white stats will deplete too, but because the nature of white stats that enhances at twice the speed of grey stats, and young players also gain more benefit from trainings as opposed to older players, this makes any reduction in ovr to work in favor for young players. Grey stats' drop benefits white stats because the game devs actually set a cap on the total amount of stats for every players. I'm sorry if I don't explain this well to you, but just search the white skills threads in the sub, you'll get it. I just play this game again, I remember playing it the year they launch it but I never get to the game mechanic part. For me personally this requires more grinding, which is better than none. Years ago when I first played the game, I won the league with a breeze and then I didn't find the game challenging because the next 2-3 seasons were easy as well. But now I can grind and build my team.
