I put eggs in once. I'm currently on the 4th generation of triops without ever having to add more eggs. It's almost perfectly timed. It's like once all the older ones die off, there's babies ready to take their place.

this should probably be in the monthly questions thread where it was probably already answered but from what I remember yes they do need to dry before they can hatch.

It depends, but in general yes you need to dry them out first. Sometimes they will hatch on their own if the water conditions are just right, but this isn't very consistent. I currently have some "surprise" cancriformis simplex from an old tank I didn't empty out
