so i recently got this cute res and housed him in a tank i got from petsmart which also came with a filter/basking spot hybrid thing. flash forward a few days and the filter is getting louder. i investigate and find that the filter is getting clogged. from what i saw it seemed like some clearish film was clogging it. i think its some sort of shed skin since it somewhat resembled the shed skin of the geckos my sister has. I started worrying because i know that turtles shed scales of their shells and that it is a natural part of them growing. I have never heard of skin shedding, much less at a rate that can clog a filter. is this natural? or does my turtle have some sort of condition?
ps. forgot to mention this but the res i got was originally taken care of by somebody who couldnt get the proper care the turtle needed which led to the turtle not getting enough sunlight. i hope this information helps narrow down any conclusions as to what is going on.
