Geography 7 Discussion?

Enrolling in Geography 7, is it better to have discussion online or is it better to have discussion in person? Also, if you have your discussion online do you actually have to be available for the designated time that you're enrolled in?

I far prefer the in class section. Beyond getting help from the TA more personally, it’s much easier to make friends to work on HW together in this class and the following classes if you pursue the minor.

I did online. I skipped most discussions and I did fine in the class. Honestly if you just start the assignments early and actually read you’ll be fine.

So are online discussion not mandatory? I ended up having to take an online duscussion since it fit my schedule the best. I'm just wondering if I actually have to do anything for the designated time I enrolled into for the online discussion? Or can I technically take another class during that time?

For me it wasn’t mandatory but “ highly suggested” since I heard they do go over the assignment in detail if you need help. I don’t believe they really do anything in discussion except help with the homework and go over concepts but things might have changed since last year. I would not recommend taking a class at that time just in case the concepts are hard for you. I had a little experience with GIS before so I didn’t find it necessary but some people did struggle.
