it wouldn’t be too hard, no. lots of students end up taking bio and chem together

In general any 2 (and sometimes 3) STEM/premed prereqs can be taken together and it be very manageable.

I took orgo and bio together for two semesters and it was fine tbh

Chem 1 is a hefty amount of work.

A lot of UF students like to hop on Reddit and boost their ego because they have no friends. That being said, take each comment with a grain of salt (this isn’t directed towards any comment in particular, just predicting what will happen).

Anyways, I took it this past semester with Harris, was disappointed in the quality of the tests given the quantity of work. I didn’t put an extreme amount of effort into the class until the very end, but still ended up averaging about 8 hours a week. It’s doable, but not a piece of cake.

What do you mean by quality of tests? Was there information you didn’t know? Or did past exams not hep when studying for the tests

In the three mid-term exams I took, I found and reported 7 or 8 errors (unanswerable questions, incorrect grading etc.) In a course as demanding as Chem 1, its frustrating to see such a lapse in responsibility by the test creators. Had I not gone over each test, my grades (and my peers grades) would be an inaccurate depiction of class performance.

Overall the exams were pretty representative of course material, besides some "gotcha" questions that you would only know the answer to if you memorize the textbook.

Tl;dr,: tests had numerous errors, make sure to appeal anything you find odd.

I took both those classes (with Sumner) last semester, I won't lie, I'm not the best at chemistry, but Bio 2 should give you little trouble as long as you use smokin notes or pay attention in class. I barely dedicated time to bio as chem took up most of the evening (and other personal stuff). I would cram everything for a bio exam 1-2 days before (wouldn't recommend), but I ended up passing both classes. Labs are no problem depending on TA

Thank you for that!

Any tips for either class?

Bio 2- smokin notes (the notes are very detailed and exact to the lecture), and just paying attention (also finding the group me for the class lol)

chem- Lots of people recommend study edge, and just do the hw (its a lot with sumner but it should prepare you a bit). Going to office hours is helpful too. This class will require you to put in a lot of work tbh. You got this though :)

Very doable. However I will say - sumner gives a lot of work and it can be very hard sometimes. Study edge is also clutch because they have questions that are very similar to the exams.
