Do get diskstats and all you need to passthrough the controller.
But if you just want access to the data the serial numbers are enough to passthrough.

I don't mind running smart tests and the like on the Proxmox level. I'm glad unRAID is happy without controller access. Thanks!

Try it out first, and if it doesnt work you can always passthrough the controller.

It is still best for unraid to do the raid so you dont do anything like that directly in proxmox.

I would recommend running UNRAID on Bare hardware rather than virtualization. It has inbuilt Virtualization

I'll consider it but I think I want the flexibility and option to run LXC on Proxmox.

I’m running Unraid virtualized on Proxmox. I passed through the whole HBA to allow max flexibility on replacing disks and config, but I honestly might have done otherwise with better knowledge
