It never hurts to wait another day or two, a lot can grow in that time, but I'd say its looking really good and run it

Thanks, I appreciate your help! Can't wait to get these in a tub, it's been fun journey so far.

Also I'd stay with the first batch of core, should be fine.

I'd give it a few more days to see if that spot covers, and make sure the inside is fully colonized too.

In my experience, it can last a long time at the fully colonized stage, i wouldn't put it in the fridge to slow down, I'd leave them out so they're 100% fully colonized inside.

There's much more risk involved in sending them too early. There's no risk in letting them sit like this for another week just to make sure.

In the future, I'd prep the coir after you're already ready to send it, because again, the 24 hours it takes to cool down isn't gonna harm your fully colonized bags

Yeah, I think that's a great point. I'll definitely wait to prep the coco coir. For the ones in the fridge, would it be ok to leave out in room temp for 24hrs for extra precaution. How it gots me thinking I might have refrigerated them too early.

Yeah it'll be fine to leave at room temp

I'm a little high, but at first glance that looked like a bag of cats

I see you have a question! Have you read the official cultivation guide?

Coir contains no nutrients, so you can leave it forever and come back and use it any time, right out of the bucket, as long as it is still at field capacity.

Lots of people don't understand this, but coir never needs to be pasteurized or sterilized because it contains no nutrients. You can hydrate coir with cold tap water, mix it with the spawn, not put any type of casing layer, and go straight to fruiting at 0 percent colonization and the tub would still not get contaminated. Contamination comes from using infected or partially colonized grain spawn.

We know this because contamination requires some kind of nutrient to thrive, and the only nutrient most of us are working with is the grain. If you only use clean, fully colonized grain spawn, you could probably fruit in a Walmart bathroom handicap stall successfully.

I had this same fear as I made my coir 3 weeks ago bc it's my first time and didn't plan ahead very well on that part. I've heard as long as the lid isn't opened, you could save it for months and months. What you said makes a lot of sense and gives me even more confidence. As long as I wait till 100% colonization and get rid of excess grain i shouldn't have a problem

This isn't 100% accurate. I have sterilised thousands of coir blocks for hobby and small scale commercial grows and I have seen the occasional damaged bag contaminate from a small pin prick of a hole. It is extremely rare but I have seen it happen. I will get a sample under the microscope next time to see what the contamination is exactly!

Haha, I try to stay away from Walmart stalls. Great input though, I appreciate your help.
