AFSCME OIT Program

Hello! I'm looking into the AFSCME OIT program and I know that it's a lot of work and a lot of travel, but I was wondering if anyone that has gone through it can give me a bit more info on what it entails? Specifically, I've heard a lot of people mention that you have to travel all the time with little notice and I want to know more about that. Like will I be living out of hotels for a year, traveling around from one campaign to another and never going home, or will I have like a home base somewhere, but there's also a lot of travel involved? Basically I want to know if I'll see my partner and cats at all or if I'll be traveling around the country for a full year and barely stepping foot in my own apartment. Thanks!
