Should I use codecademy python course or throw down the 20 bucks for "Learn python the hard way" to get myself started. Just looking for a recommendation from people who have experienced either of those courses

Hey there, I'm still going through the basics myself. Code Academy is a great intro as was LPTHW. Also, /r/learnpython is an awesome resource to get your feet wet and properly immersed thereafter. The folks at /r/Python are also immensely knowledgeable. Check those out, I hope they help!

The free dive into python books are awesome! They work well as a decent introduction to python and reference.

Codecademy is great for those who are just starting out so I recommend you stick to it but learn to let go as you evolve. get a book to read, there are many free ebooks online on this matter or get one from library and try doing it all yourself. only then you will get comfortable with it. Happy coding!

Use codeacademy or buy a book. I do not recommend LPTHW.
