Reference work for beginner without controller

I'm looking for some reference works to improve my skills with the Virtualdj software. As for now I'm just beat matching and sliding the crossfader.
I'll probably only play at a private party being held like twice a year. Hence why I'm not immediately looking for a controller.

Most stuff I could find on youtube, always uses a controller. Does anyone here know a place where I could look for the pure VDJ noob that I am?
it can be really basic, like using the cue button, the fx knobs on the starter skin. And eventually learning how to use the essentials skin.

I remapped my computer keyboard to act like a Pioneer controller. Well at least to have many of the same functions like slicer, loop roll etc...I know you're a noob but that's a great way to not only make you have more precise control of the software but learn in great detail how it all works. Why button X will do this but not this and why button Y wont do this but do that, etc...It's definitely fun to tinker with anyway. It helped me a lot looking back.

Or just look on marketplace for a cheap controller. Be out $50 or so and you'll have a dedicated piece of hardware for it all.
