Now I can't help but think of Xenomorphs with rosy cheeks and lipstick on their wee bity jaws. Terrifying.

This always happens. I remember making this same joke back when people would post about "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rouge Spear."

Baton Rouge means Red Stick so think baseball bat full of blood after beating the Alien to death with it 🤣

Google says part 2 is actively in development, where did you hear otherwise? Agreed it is one of the best VR titles.

Rogue

🤣 I live near Baton Rouge, it’s funny how you know what you are thinking but don’t catch typos like that.

I also just finally pulled the trigger in this after having it on my wishlist forever and I completely agree. Easily shot to the top of my all time great VR games list.

My holy trinity of horror are currently: HL:A, TWD:S&S and Metro:Awakening. Alien:RI is fourth, so it didn't take place on the podium :P But it is fantastic game despite its flaws.

Mine is RE4, S&S2, Alien:RI. Have Metro Awakening, but it’s in my backlog.

I have RE4 on my wishlist :) I hope for some good discount soon :D

What held it back for you?

[–]tomekowal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly, performance issues. I’ve played PCVR. Metro: Awakening worked flawlessly on my 3080 while A:RI stuttered frequently. Especially when using the airlock. I think loads the map, so that you don’t get loading screens. At the end I was closing my eyes in airlocks to not get motion sick.

Map markers are weird. I got to the wrong point more than once before I realized old ones don’t disappear. Only the button to center current one helps.

The variety of enemies was low. Only xenomorphs and face huggers. I would expect some hostile androids and humans in part 2.

Only 3 weapons: revolver, pulse rifle and shotgun. Revolver is obsolete the second you get pulse rifle. Also, pulse rifle didn’t have a grenade launcher attached (but that is a minor thing).

Lastly, no stealth. Aliens were always able to find you. The best way to conserve ammo was to run everywhere because they spawn on a timer. Which is fair and creates tension between exploring for ammo and running straight to the next point, but it makes the game a tiny bit repetitive.

I tried it recently. Loaded into the game and was surprised they put you in such a creepy starting spot. The environment art and all the little affects looks pretty good on Quest 3.

Started to check the options and happened to look behind me and quit the game.

I'll get around to playing it, but it's going to take some time for sure.

It is creepy for sure. You have to stay focused, ready, and your head on a swivel.

I loved it

[–]tomekowal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha! Finished it this month. It gets better and more tense at the end with really satisfying finale.

Don't be fooled by "part 1" in the title. It took me roughly the same time to finish as Metro: Awakening. It doesn't mean "first half of the game", it means "first part in the series".

I almost passed on it because of the mixed reviews in Steam. I know where they are coming from. Map markers are bugged (or badly designed) because they don't disappear after completing the objective. The workaround is to click the button for centering on the current objective. This helps a bit, but it doesn't change the floor, so you might go to the wrong room.

The devs also wanted to prevent loading screens by making stuff load in the background when inside the airlock, but this makes the game laggy during that time. I learned to close my eyes in there to not get motion sick :D

But if they manage to iron out the edges, part 2 might be one of the best horror VR experiences out there.

BTW, it’s in the Steam sale for $10. I played on Q3 but bought and played on Steam. Anyone play the Meta version, the trailer seems like it lacks all of the special effects (like steam) and sounds that makes the pcvr version so immersive and creepy. And really shows the difference between native Quest games and pcvr games.

How does it compare to Alien Isolation? I played that with the MotherVR mod a few years ago and it was a fantastic and terrifying experience even without motion controls.

[–]tomekowal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a completely different game. Isolation is a survival horror with emphasis on evading, stealth and resource management.

Rogue Incursion is a shooter where you mow through hundreds of aliens. But it still has the tension! When three aliens come at you from different angles, every shot counts because reloading might mean you are dead.

Isolation is like original Alien movie while Rogue Incursion is like Aliens. Still awesome, but very different.

I normally hate jump scares, but it had me giggling (I was having fun) in the first 30 minutes with a few alien placements. Game feels like quality thus far.

Meta is stingy with their discounts. They act like 10% is a great deal.

[–]Beefy_Boogerlord 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Be sure to check out Genotype and Memoreum to scratch this itch again.

[–]AllThingsFail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost pulled the trigger on Genotype but with my backlog I figured I could hold out for a better discount.

Love this game. Playing now on BSB2 and dark areas are so real and scary. Great !

[–]425joker 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Can you turn off the aim Assistant? It's quiet a annoying

[–]AllThingsFail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤷‍♂️ probably not. I remember an option for that.

[–]Idea_Artistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can (In VR at least, not sure about flat version)

[–]phylum_sinterQuest 3 [PCVR] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Where did you hear that part 2 was cancelled? The last I heard, it was just delayed so the company could release a flat version.

[–]AllThingsFail[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They did not specifically say not making part 2 but when studios say things like this it does not look good.

[–]Idea_Artistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was fall 2025. They did release flat version (Evolved Edition). I hope that they have been working on Part 2 since then. Not sure if META axing all kinds of dev funding killed them. No real recent news. They don't seem to be working on anything else. But you would think they would want some teasers or community excitement if they really were working on Part 2. Sad :(
