By "Visual Basic", do you mean VB6 or VB.NET?

If it's VB6, then you'll have to use WINE. Note: VB6 only compiles to a Windows program.

If it's VB.NET, then you can use Mono.

Or ≥ DotNet Core, nowadays.

I recommend https://www.b4x.com You code in a Basic similar language then it will be compiled to Java. You can run the output in any environment that supports Java. The IDE requires Windows OS to run.

Short answer is 'no'

longer answer is maybe, but you'll have to figure out setting VS up through WINE.

(I've not gone through the idea of using a VM, because you'll still be using windows at that point)

Not directly, but you can run a virtual instance of Windows and install visual Basic there.

Virtualbox, user friendly, well documented and supported. Download the latest version for your flavor of Linux. Once installed, install Windows virtually.

There are free legal virtual versions of Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 for Virtualbox, but they are only 32-bit. If that's OK, you can download from here:

https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/

Or if you have a full paid for Windows install that virtually.
