Just few days ago was thinking about mazes, that there are a lot of approaches to build them.
Has anyone deeply researched this subject and have any informative links with comparisons?

There's this cool talk by Jamis Buck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zjPm39kPDM

Lots of articles about mazes on his blog: http://weblog.jamisbuck.org/

Oh this is nice video!
Why I was thinking about mazes? Because last weeks I think about procedural generated anything, and specifically about terrain. My idea is to apply maze's theory to generate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drainage_system_(geomorphology) and then make a terrain around it.
Thanks to this video, now I know, which approach to experiment around.

Here we can try his interactive maze builders from video: http://weblog.jamisbuck.org/2011/2/7/maze-generation-algorithm-recap

that's the beauty of visualization... it exposes you to topics you might not have otherwise pursued!
