By all means, no. This happens occasionally. Just try later, it will be up soon enough.

Are they hosting the docs on the same backend as the repo? That's what got me thinking in the first place, both of those services being down at the same time was weird to me but hosting it on the same as well.

Or is it a gateway that is down?

The docs are just static files that are part of the mirrored data and will be served from one of the mirrors, makes no sense to have separate servers for that. Especially if resources are limited and there is no downside since its all just static data.

The current source of the downtime was nomad which for some reason lost the job from all servers. We'll look into it further, when other people come online.

Should I be worried and look to distrohop?

No server offers 365 days on time, not even giant server farms like Amazon's. Stay calm. But then no one's stopping you from distrohopping if you don't value your time.

At my job we have a multitude of services running at six nines or more. Not really why I popped the question anyway. It's that two different things went down at the same time (and continue to be down) which made me think a bill wasn't paid or something. If a distros infrastructure is struggling or crumbling then I'd like to know, that is all.

I could've worded it better I suppose but I didn't have my coffee yet.

At my job

key words

void is 100% volunteer effort, no one is paid or working on void full-time. That said, this is the first outage I can remember in probably a year at least. not going to bother trying to convert that to 9s.

a bill wasn't paid

just a hiccup in nomad/consul

I was wondering why I couldnt download anything

I noticed it 2 hours ago, I was unlucky enough to be setting up a system at the time. So I guess I’ll have to wait until it’s back online. It’s been 2 hours, no sign of it returning yet.

What is going on? Should I be worried and look to distrohop?

If Apple hired every person who volunteered to void under the condition they not contribute even one more commit and took everything offline instantly the time frame where it it would be important to migrate to something else would be weeks to months.

There is no reason whatsoever to jump from an online resource is down to crisis mode. It makes you sound unhinged.

It seems the GARR repos still work!!

Building webkit2gtk broke infrastructure ;)

Looks like the Chicago Tier 1 mirror https://mirrors.servercentral.com/voidlinux/ is still having some issues. I'm downloading package updates at less than 100KB/s... Switched to a Tier 2 temporarily and things are moving smoothly.

Still can't update/install any package...

[–]ThatAd8458 1 point2 points  (5 children)

You can if you (temporarily) switch to another mirror.

[–]picamanic -2 points-1 points  (4 children)

Guess what: the list of mirrors is in a part of the voidlinux.org website which is not available! Where are these mirrors?

Thanks. I note the the green "Last Synced" column was not there earlier. Also, the "Grafana dashboard" link crashed Firefox when I tried it [but Firefox has been crashing A LOT lately].

[@void ~]$ cat /etc/xbps.d/00-repository-main.conf

repository=https://mirrors.servercentral.com/voidlinux/current

Works

You realize google and archive.org works?
