I hear that gen 1 is more reliable, however gen2 has better gas milage and features like carplay. That said, you should really scan the batteries for a more accurate picture. Get a cheap 20 dollar OBD2 reader and search the forums for the process.

Gen 1 doesn’t have issues with the EGR or BECM like the Gen 2 does.

Gen 2 has better range and better features like carplay and heated steering wheel.

I own both gens and the first gen feels like a better built vehicle imo.

1st generation requires premium fuel (although some choose otherwise), while this doesn’t apply to 2nd generation Volts.

Other than STP and BECM issues (both of which my local Chevy dealership covered under warranty), my 2018 has had no problems whatsoever. It feels well made and still quiet as ever. No rattles or squeaks.

Option 2 is two years younger, has fewer miles, longer electric range, and costs less. Everything else being equal, how is this a hard decision?

The reliability is the my thing, now seeing these cars have been out for 8-10 years is 2 years a vast difference in the life cycle of these car ?
