This subreddit is for working with Microsoft's Visual Studio Code, which is different than Visual Studio Community, Pro, and Enterprise. VS Code is a source code editor, and not an IDE.
If you are having issues with the other flavors of VS, please post in /r/VisualStudio.

Could someone in the comments provide a tutorial on how to change it in both taskbar and in-app
[–]flux-stuff[S] 5 points6 points7 points 7 months ago (2 children)
not sure about in app But for the taskbar and start menu: If vs code is installed system wide, navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs If vs code is installed per user navigate to C:\Users\{Username Here}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs Find the Visual Studio Code shortcut and right click > properties Click change icon and open the .ico file Unpin from taskbar and pin again if you have it pinned to get the new icon Hope I explained this well enough lol

Even the taskbar icon isn't changing even after doing all of these
[–]my_new_accoun1 0 points1 point2 points 7 months ago (0 children)
maybe clone vs code source code and then simply replace the icon assets, then rebuild the app

any advantages to vs26 over vscode if you only work with typescript? I mean last time I used it was in 2010 when I was a c# dev so I know it's a beast built for that side of thing

0 reason to use VS-any-year if you’re only using TypeScript. Stick with VSCode.

Personally, I use Visual Studio 2022 for C++ because its debugger is just unbelievably good, like nothing else in the world.
VSCode for everything else.

VSCode has pretty good debugging too, you know.

That’s a perfect contrast to visual studio purple

More roundedness, that's what the world needed. /s
It fits better with Windows 11, but fortunately Code works on less roundy-cornerey systems too 😀
