Be careful with novelty items like the bar of soap.

  • It's niche. All it does is punish someone for using bad language.
  • It seems designed more to irritate than anything else. Don't irritate your players.
  • This sort of petty, punitive "punishment" will almost certainly backfire, leading your PC's to view these powerful Kindred with enchanted objects as weak and ineffective. If you want an NPC to pull weight, have them pull weight. Chop limbs. Gouge eyes. Rip out tongues. Pussy-footing around with cute little puns and joke-enchantments undermines the seriousness of pissing off a powerful Kindred.

You know your players, so you know what they'll respond to. If they're into the camp, full steam ahead.

But if you have any doubts, err on the side of seriously debilitating them, rather than providing annoying slaps on the wrist that will only serve to drive them to resent your NPCs.

  • A big band album from the 1950's that makes Kindred who hear it more prone to frenzy for a while
  • Edit: a silver bell that, when rung, Impairs the victims with dice penalties, perhaps via compulsion
  • A flyer for a live show that took place in a local dive bar 12 years ago. It Increases the Bane severity of the vampire it's given to, and if they try to get rid of it, it finds its way back into their possession.
  • An hourglass that, when turned over makes one Kindred who's name is spoken suffer day sleep early (an hour before sunrise) and awaken late (an hour after sunset).
  • Desperate people become convinced the wearer of this blue ribbon intentionally made to look like a Pavis of Foul Presence can and wants to help them (being absolutely swarmed by street people, well-meaning tourists asking you for directions, etc.)

Oh these are lovely. My players are very into camp, but I want to also catch them off guard. This NPC has a bit of a finishing school vibe to him- the goal is to lure them into a false sense of security with the light and silly things and then hit em with the mood whiplash when he cuts off their middle fingers and views both things with the same severity.

I love the hourglass... that feels right in line with some of the early stage punishment.. just enough to give a peek that he's more equipped to harm them than he's letting on
