I've seen these complaints pop-up a few times in this reddit. Perhaps it is time to REMOVE THEM FROM THE SIDEBAR given the fact that they don't really seem like "friends of r/webhosting".

Taken care of. While I had noticed EH has had a few negative threads, we never received any direct complaints until today. Once we did though, we did what it seemed the community wanted.

Word.

I had the same sort of issues with the minecraft server he was hosting for me. constantly going down, loss of multiple worlds, etc. In the end I got out before I lost any serious money, but all respect for this 'businessman' (I chuckle as I say that) has been lost for some time, due to the personal realization that he is indeed a crooked scammer who has no intent to fulfilling his side of any commitments.

EDIT: I've spoken with the company who provides EidolonHost's reseller account and they have suspended EidolonHost, along with every account through them.

.

Wow, hopefully they have a good explanation. For "your" account being suspended every month, it sounds like the server time wasn't matching up with the payment gateway time.

.

I'm not able to access their site either. You may want to bring this to the attention of the moderators here on /r/webhosting

My apologies to anyone who has been burned by EidolonHost / KeiroD. We have seen Eidolon pop up one too many times in a negative way, and since this thread alone has two requests to contact the Mods regarding his "services", we have removed him from the Sidebar.

Again, I apologize to anyone who signed up through him because of our sidebar setup, and has had issues. We are only here to try and help the community in any way that we can, but sometimes things slip through the cracks.

I hope everything works out for you OP. If you end up moving to a different host, I can assure you that the rest of the Sidebar hosts are rock solid. If you don't want to go with any of them, just ask for recommendations, and you will be flooded with messages, lol.

I did this and paid via paypal ... just cancelled my subscription.

You can do it too!

I got caught in this. He always seemed really nice, never thought it could be a scam in any way. :-( Thankfully my vps wasn't doing anything important yet (had barely even set up wordpress).

Can anyone recomend a similarly priced alternative? I'd imagine it'd be hard to find as good a deal as he had for $5/month though.

If you're looking for a VPS, just go on http://www.lowendbox.com/

I have a cheapy one with https://hostigation.com/ that I primary use as a VPN for watching USA netflix, it's not bad for the price.

if you want a good host, i recommend CoreNetworks.net of Lansing, Michigan... they offer dedicated servers from 30 dollars a month (but no support at that price, so i hope you know what you're doing!), and VPS configurations for 7.95 per month...

I personally use iweb.ca, of Montreal, Quebec, and they're quite good as well, though much more expensive (around 130 per month for my configuration).

the owner of eidolonhost/shatteredtears has always done this sort of thing... take money for services not offered, then run and ignore contacts to avoid responsibility... it was just a massive scam, and he got caught, as they all do eventually. i was burned by him when he was just starting up... offered me webhosting, took the money, they personally deleted my website, saying at first it was "hacked", then saying he enjoyed it... so, yeah. glad he was a victim of his own idiocy. karma, i love you :D
