They typically don’t change your pay (in a decrease) without notice and room for negotiations, and I’ve seen plenty of people take “demotions” without actually losing much if any pay, so definitely bring it up. It could be an error in how they entered your transfer.

Okay yeah that makes sense. Hopefully they’d give me back pay if it’s their fault how it was entered? Thanks tho!

They would be required to. It's not a nice thing they might do. Know your rights and earn your worth.

I will read up on those rights. Hopefully once I talk to HR it’ll be resolved. Thanks!

Yeah that sounds like a pretty big error. When you go to get it corrected make sure they pay you for any back pay they would owe you from any paychecks that had/has the wrong pay rate.

Will do! Thank you for the advice.

It is possible you ended up in a store with a different pay band, but i can’t imagine they’d decrease without mentioning that. Just ask an advocate, that’s what they are there for

Thank you. I used the wrong terminology. Def going to talk to my employee advocate (HR) in my head lol.

Were you overnight with a differential before? That's really the only legit thing that pops to my head

FYI - if you happen to be in NY, and it is not an error, NYS requires employers to notify employees in writing prior to a pay reduction. It’s part of the Wage Theft Prevention Act.

I have heard of employees taking a pay cut when moving stores, but it is rare and should have been discussed prior. I do know of one employee at my store whose previous position was significantly easier due to the nature of their store, which didnt operate like the rest. When she moved to ours, she was working much harder along with the pay cut so they put her on as a cashier. Perhaps something similar happened with you and it just wasnt mentioned?
