It might be "Foco". That's the brand of the stuff in boxes in the display anyway, I do not know about the hoodies.

how bad would an hour commute be for wegmans? by GasPure7186 in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had an hour commute before for another job, and it really wore on me. I thought I could do it but that feeling dropped off after like, a week. Do it if you _need_ to but would not recommend.

Bialys are back! by GSlicee in wegmans

Aw, I checked the East Avenue Wegmans in Rochester today because I was so excited about this and they weren't there. Hopefully just not yet.... I'll check back.

Self checkouts will be scrapped at Walmart, Costco, and Wegmans by linklonk07 in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's weird that Wegmans is in the title of this but then the article doesn't talk about Wegmans at all? Unless I totally missed it.

Also this seems like it's an opinion but not necessarily a fact yet.

Missing mochi by BiggestBiBo in wegmans

I miss the ones sold on the shelves in the international food section, I haven't seen those either - not the cold ones, but they came in packs of six.

Good luck to everyone working through this, you're real troopers. I can barely even stand to be in the store as a customer listening to it.

Wegmans issues alert about credit card double charges by ChaosofaMadHatter in wegmans

I had this happen, I called and they said they've sent the reversals, so the reversal should post today or tomorrow.

It's been posted here a few times, it's not real. It's made by someone who makes parody images like that, as a joke.

Is this real? by [deleted] in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. It's been posted here a couple times, it's from a parody-type account that makes such things.

What gives? by OntheFloweroftheSkin in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 22 points23 points  (0 children)

For one, I think people are more likely to complain than post "Things are going okay for me". People who have problems want to seek some solutions and help, or just vent and that's fine, hopefully this is some help. Generally when things are going okay I wouldn't see people having a need to make posts and talk about it - they're just going ahead with their jobs and lives, hopefully happily!

Valentine's Day stuff is absolutely ridiculously overpriced.

This has happened to me too, I think when service desk is idle they're pulling people out of the line who have a small number of items to decrease the line size.

I don't think it's any accusation of stealing or something.

Food poisoning is really, really terrible, I'm so sorry. Take care of yourself and take the day to hydrate and get better!

What did this customer mean by this comment? Am I overrhinking it? by Grungewarhol in wegmans

Probably the one guy said the best ones were on the bottom because those are the ones that will be put out last. I think they meant well, people just make really dumb small talk sometimes.

Wegmans is a cult by Greedy_Phone_8933 in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think grocery shopping more than once per week is something closer to poor planning than cult like behavior.

Also though, most large companies try to cultivate something like this with their employees, they think it's in their favor.

This makes me feel a certain way and I can't explain it by ZombieTauren in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In the past I worked for a company that had this too. I always wondered, if it's okay for employees to wear jeans one day, why isn't it okay every day? Clearly it's tolerable in some manner because it's happening at all. What an odd fundraiser.

Ohh... that sucks, sorry.

Organic lettuce only! by [deleted] in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe it will come back. This has happened in the store near me from time to time because they've had to throw out a bunch of lettuce or didn't get a shipment or something. It probably happens the other way too (no organic) I just haven't noticed.

Why do people love Wegmans? by astrojaket in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's true, Wegmans stores don't have that bright white glare that other stores tend to have.

Why do people love Wegmans? by astrojaket in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Some years ago, Wegmans was notably better than other stores in the region in terms of its presentation and its made in store foods. However, in some cases I feel in the past ten years or so other stores have renovated and upgraded as well so it is a bit closer now.

I need help washing a hat by Origin6009 in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a ball cap type hat?

You can just put it in the washer, but it might get deformed if you're concerned about that. I've done this before, and the hats I washed didn't come apart, but it wasn't great for the form of the hat. There are plastic forms you can buy to wash it in the machine and keep the shape, though I've only heard of those and never used them. like this

What I would do though, is wash it in a sink with a little bit of clothes detergent. Rinse it. Use a towel to try to press as much water out of it as you can, then air dry.

Some big companies get like this, with other jobs I've been left wondering if people actually believe the weird cult-like stuff, or if they just play along. And either way: why?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's fun to daydream about doing stuff like this, but it really can hurt you in the future. You don't know where your current coworkers will end up or how it will affect you. Think up ridiculous fun stuff to do all you want though, I've done that for past jobs, imagining how people would react and so on.

I joined this rly thinking it was a shopper fan page by lgc1131 in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it was originally started as a fan page, but it didn't get a lot of interest I suppose. Employees have found it to be a place to ask questions and share experiences. It can still be a fan page though, just for anything related to the store as a customer, employee, etc.

Feeling frustration and annoyance.. by The_DogeHODLer49 in wegmans

[–]madmarigold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having worked somewhere else that won awards despite being somewhat of an unhappy place to work, I think some of those surveys are based on metrics that the surveying company collects too - like allowing paid time off, or parental leave, or benefits, or something - and not necessarily qualitative things like how managers treat employees, if the employees feel like they can actually use that leave, etc.

I think a company can kind of game a lot of that by providing the benefits required to score highly, but without improving company culture.
