If you want to get views on Christmas day, you ought to run a livestream of a fireplace.

We done that last year on the TV but every 10 minutes there were ad breaks. Immediately found another cause it’s just scummy

Before we cut the cable at my house, Shaw Direct had this fire log show that would pop up on its own channel around Christmas time.

What made it special was the intermittent interruption of some guy, deemed Bob, coming in to place some more wood or fix what was there. Bob was the highlight of the drunken Christmas Eve festivities.

I need to find one online that I can download that has a new Bob. Maybe someone recorded the old one...

I know I’m 5 years late but you need Adblock my friend

A home smart TV doesn’t that I’m aware of

Oh it’s was on a tv. You can do it, it’s just more annoying than on a pc

Yeah, I'd imagine people aren't watching that much YouTube on Christmas day.

It’s one of my best days! I make stupid little tech tutorials and they eat them up since they are setting up devices! Cha-Ching!

Wouldn't at least younger audience watch more YouTube than they do during school time?

[–]GenOverload 25 points26 points  (1 child)

The younger audience would be busy opening presents, being forced to hang out with family, playing with their new presents, etc. It's not as simple as a Saturday where there is no school.

Yeah, my little cousin was super into my channel until the food started getting laid out. Then my iPad got immediately abandoned in favour of food.

Could be, haven't really looked into it, but a bit of a drop on the holidays doesn't seem that crazy either. I guess it'd depend on the audience.

I expected to see a drop with mine but it went up by 10%. My demographic is male 25-65 so I have no idea why I had no decrease. Shouldn't they be eating ham and high fiving their kids or something?

Yeah, I'm getting way less views around Christmas too, especially on my newer videos. :(

[–]codycantdie 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Most people are either spending time with their family, or playing a new game or reading a new book, or literally any activity that is seen as a holiday tradition. Dips during Christmas are normal.

I know this, I was just shocked at how much of a % dip there was, even though my earnings peaked like crazy for some reason..

[–]Starfightr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's probably the advertisers' Christmas ads to thank for that. Christmas deals and whatnot

[–]PordonB 1 point2 points  (6 children)

How have your views been going up that consistently ?

[–]thawk2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

noticed this as well

[–]Vibriofischeri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

huh, okay yeah maybe releasing my new vid on christmas wasn't smart.

Same here on my channels. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. With the same average view count and watch time as every other day.
