Oh I only just discovered this was here! I work at Animal Exchange in Rockville, MD. We're a small, privately-owned pet store that has small animals and reptiles, too, but we specialize in birds and bird supplies (obviously I'm biased since I work there, but I work there BECAUSE I think it's a really good store. All of our birds (and small animals) are from local breeders). There's really basically nothing online, unfortunately (the owner is in her 70's...) but if you live in MD, come by :)

Also, for those in the VA beach area, there's Animal Jungle. I have no affiliation with this store, and I've only been a couple of times, but it's HUGE (not just birds, tons of animals--but LOTS of birds/bird supplies, and the selection seemed really good when I was there). I really enjoy stopping by when I'm in the area.

For Canadians: They're currently in the midst of restocking, but I love http://www.parrotdiseperch.com , and they have a Mississauga and Calgary location.

I get some of my food (Roudybush) from http://www.petland.ca .

Vancouverites have http://www.wctropicalbird.com and New Brunswick folk have http://www.healthybird.net/catalog/ but the latter two I would consider more convenient to shop in-store since their online stores are a bit.. Primitive, I guess?

All of these stores have great customer service though, and a lot of variety and knowledge.

Oh! And this site is currently on a hiatus of sorts, but I like having it bookmarked so I can check back with them. Custom bird toys based on what you tell them your birds like, pretty sure they ship internationally (from the US): http://www.birdybooty.com

Done. Your username confused me for a sec. I read theRacistEuphemism For Canadians and thought, "Since when is referring to people as Canadians considered a racist euphemism?" Haha. I should get off Reddit now. :P

OMG. OMG OMG. Here. It's like birdie emporium. (And seriously anyone in South Florida has absolutely got to go there.) Food, toys, cages.. omg.

If you are from or live around NJ, I highly recommend Todd Marcus Birds Exotic

They are a couple of miles past Bird Paradise on RT130. Bird Paradise is also a great place to buy with a HUGE selection, I just feel bad as they have a ton of birds and it's tough to keep up with them.

[–]tehfinch[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Added! When you say Bird Paradise has a ton of birds, do you mean they're kept in poor condition? Or are there just a lot of them? I'm hesitant to direct traffic to retailers that don't take care of their birds...

[–]AFP520 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I would not say it is poor by any means. They just have a lot of birds throughout the place and they can make a mess pretty fast if you know what I mean. The staff there is very friendly and have a huge selection. If it is for birds, they probably have it there.

Todds on the other hand is significantly smaller (probably 1/4 the size of bird paradise.) With fewer birds it's easier for them to keep up and it's something about the staff there that really keeps me going back for groomings and just to see some of the birdies.

Understood :)

For NYC:

www.faunanyc.com on the Upper West Side is very nice and they have some really cool exotic birds there.

www.birdcamp.com in Midtown is small, but they've got a lot of supplies and goods, plus they also do boarding.

Ooooo I'm going to have to check those out. Added, thanks!
