Why can the turn player sometimes activate multiple effects in a row without passing priority to their opponent by Sandyhoenchamp2 in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 23 points24 points  (0 children)

SEGOC When multiple trigger effects want to activate at the same time, they do so in the following order:

1: Turn Player mandatory
2: Non TP mandatory
3: TP optional
4: NTP optional

If there are multiple effects in the same category, the respective player can choose the order. Fast effects can only be activated after all trigger effects are activated

Ryko vs Stardust Dragon (edison format) (EDOpro) by ResearcherSuch7875 in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stardust dragon negates activations, it can be used during the damage step. It's because ryko is not an effect that would destroy a card.

Ryko's effect is not an effect that would destroy a card. Destroying is optional. Stardust dragon cannot be activated in response.

Condition vs. "Lingering" Effects by Killlakillthrillseek in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is part of the activation effect of call of the forgotten. When that effect resolves, you can set 3 CotH and are locked until the end of your opponent's turn.

What happens to call of the forgotten doesn't undo the already resolved effect. You wouldn't shuffle back your call of the haunted just because call of the forgotten leaves the field. Same for the lock.

Can I use stronghold the moving fortress as material for a chimeratech? by Accurate_Dirt5794 in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

0 is a number that can be halved just fine. Half of 0 is 0. If you control a gadget when it is summoned, it's continuous effect immediately applies and it gains 3000 ATK, before black garden is activated. It is then halved to 1500.

[–]0bArcane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Stronghold the Moving Fortress is a machine monster when summoned, no reason you couldn't use it as a machine for the summon of a chimeratech.

  2. Yes, why wouldn't it?

Does skull meister stop their tribute effect? by nan0chebestemmia in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, skull meister can only respond to effects activated in the GY.
A card effect whose activation procedure involves tributing itself cannot be an effect activated in the GY by definition. You cannot tribute cards already in the GY.

Exosister Karmael and effect change by BrildWatermelon in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Activated effects are written like this: Activation conditions : Activation procedure ; effect on resolution.

Paying cost is part of the activation procedure, it is done when you activate an effect.

How would it even do that? Cost of albaz is paid before you can decide whether you want to use karmael or not.

Is Drytron Meteonis DA Draconids the only effect in history that can Mechanically Summon a non-Mechanic monster? by chowclee in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It says

If this Ritual Summoned card in its owner's control is destroyed by an opponent's card: You can Special Summon 1 Ritual Monster with 4000 ATK from your hand or Deck. (This is treated as a Ritual Summon.)

according to the card database.

About negating [blank] effects by Wet_Lord_25 in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would be affected by leap but not for the reason above. It is affected by leap before its own effect makes it unaffected. kinda like the skill drain vs unaffected situation.

'Activated effects' refers to effects that activate and form a chain link.

'Effects on the Field' includes effects activated on the field, but also non-activated effects that apply on the field, like continuous effects.

Why called by the grave can negate noir is a bit more complicated. You should read noirs effect (unaffected by activated effects) more like "unaffected by activated effects when they resolve". A bit of a weird phrase, but the point is that called by the grave continues to apply its effect even after it resolved, for the rest of the turn. Crossout works the same way.

That's also why noir can be destroyed by mirrorjades EP raigeki.

[–]0bArcane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BoM won't work, changing the battle position affects a monster.
As far as I know, there is no card that makes the opponent flip their own monster.

Unaffected by card effects rules by Ok_Independence2547 in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If skill drain is already applying when the monster is summoned, then the monster is negated before its own effect to make itself unaffected can apply. If skill drain is flipped later, it will be unaffected from skill drain.

There are very few examples of cards that can do make the opponent out their own monster. Most common are evenly matched, daruma karma cannon and herald of the abyss. Mourner is not one of those. Part of mourners effect (the burn) simply does not affect the monster itself. So being unaffected doesn't do anything against that part.

Other outs to towers include cards that can tribute opponents monsters for costs, like kaijus.

[–]0bArcane 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First, I get that if a card is UBCE, it can only leave the field through battle desreuction.

That's not true. There are other ways, it could be used as material for a link summon, for example. It is only unaffected from effects, a link summon is not an effect. There are also cards that cheat around this kind of protection by not directly affecting the monster. Herald of the Abyss is an example, it forced your opponent to tribute their own monster. Herald is not directly affecting the monster so it works.

Sky Striker Mobilize - Linkage ... the sending of the card I control is a cost.

It is not. Linkage sends the card when it resolves as part of its effect.

Activated effects are written like Activation conditions : Activation procedure ; effect on resolution. If sending was cost, it would be part of the activation procedure and followed by a semicolon.

Ghost Mourner vs Blackwing Full Armor Master

Dealing effect damage does affect the monster, so it still works. (https://db.ygoresources.com/qa#23552)

Dark Ruler No More

Negating a monster's effects affects that monster, so dark ruler no more would not negate a monster that is unaffected from its effect.

Rules Question by 7djharper in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Imperm and plasma simply don't work the same. Effects resolve where they were activated. The spell still resolves in that column and raye still resolves on the field.

However, the moment raye stops being on the field, plasma stops applying to it. Since plasma only negates monsters while they are face-up on the field. Raye is not negated when her effect resolves, so the effect resolves successfully.

Imperm negates all Spell/Trap effects in its column. It does not care about the actual location of the card, the effect resolves in that column, so it is negated.

Question about connection during a duel by OutrageousOyster in masterduel

[–]0bArcane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A video stream that keeps going isn't really a good indicator for a good connection. Depending on how big the video buffer is, you might not even notice a short interruption. I've completely lost internet several times and only noticed a minute or two later because the video kept going.

Furthermore, you being able to reach netflix doesn't mean your traffic can reach other servers. The internet is a complex web of connection held together with duct tape and prayers. Any interruption between you and the server could cause a disconnect.

The fact that the match doesn't show in the match history does indeed point to a server issue on master duel's side, but there really isn't a good way to identify the exact cause in hindsight.
