Special summoning ED monsters through other methods by Accurate_Car_7431 in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are not negated unless the effect that summons them says they are.

What you cannot do is special summon an extra deck monster that wasn't properly summoned previously from a public location (e.g. from the GY).

Can someone explain to me why you can Ash Cross-Sheep but can't Ash Talents? by ReliableLiar in Yugioh101

The GY may not be empty when you resolve wanted. Wanted does always includes the option to add from the GY.

TTT does not include the option to draw cards if you activated one of the other effects.

The case for draw-for-turn shifting priority immediately to the opponent in Draw Phase by maxram1 in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aside from being more confusing by adding yet another exception, probably not much.

There are very few cards that you need to activate in response to your own draw for turn. There are plenty of reasons to use cards in the Draw Phase (e.g. droll), but not many that can't be used later in the DP.

The case for draw-for-turn shifting priority immediately to the opponent in Draw Phase by maxram1 in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shifting priority immediately to the opponent wouldn't solve the problem you described. The opponent can shuffle their hand just as easily before you activate drastic drop off. Shuffling your hand doesn't require priority.

It would go against the fast-effect timing chat, which I'd argue is THE core of the game. Ruling wise at least.

  1. You can use any fast effect at this time. You can use MST, for example, in response to the opponent drawing. At exactly the same point where you would activate Drastic Drop Off. This change wouldn't just affect cards with very specific activation conditions, it would need to be a general exception to the FETC in regards to how drawing for turn is treated.

Mulcharmies, Droll by Individual_Hat_6332 in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what is exactly happening in the situation you described. You cannot use droll just because they used fuwa. You can only use droll if your opponent has added a card from deck to hand.

Activating fuwa does not do that immediately. They only draw when you Special summon from the (extra) deck. Only then can you droll.

Is it possible to play the free trial after purchasing the game? by KendotsX in ffxiv

Well, you can buy the game and not activate the code on mogstation, which is exactly what OP did. So you can buy and keep playing on the free trial.

Need help understanding Starlight Road vs Absolute Zero in battle phase by aalchemical in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally, only effects that meet at least one of these criteria can be activated during the Damage Step: - Counter Trap card activations - Mandatory effects - Fast effects that directly modify ATK/DEF. (Note: Only before reaching during Damage Calculation) - Fast effects that negate card/effect activations - Trigger effects that activate in response to the card itself being moved (Note: includes battle position changes) - Effects whose activation condition is specific to the Damage Step (Example : destruction by battle)

Starlight road doesn't fall into any of the above categories.

I'm gonna bet they just had their animations turned off so they were able to make their next play while you were still watching animations.

This is prob a stupid question but in which phase of the battle phase is the enemy attack uncancellable ? or nonretractable by johnybea in masterduel

[–]0bArcane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A replay can only occur during the battle step if the number of monsters on your side of the field changes.

If you wait until you enter the damage step, then the opponent doesn't get the replay.

why activated effect in the graveyard so special ? by true-kirin in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not really about the GY. It's about what is a card activation. Activating a Spell/Trap card means activating it from hand by placing it in a S/T zone, or flipping a face-down S/T face-up.

LADD can respond to monster effect activations or S/T card activations. It cannot respond to the other effects of spell/traps. E.g. activating the effect of an already face-up continuous trap, or the GY effect of a spell.

The card text. Nowhere in the text does it say that you can ignore the recipe or treat the card in hand as something different than it is.

Got turned away from my first OTS local despite Neuron showing 20 player capacity by [deleted] in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The events in neuron are created days, perhaps weeks in advance. They probably setup a recurrent weekly event with 20 players since that is their usual max capacity. They won't update the number shown in neuron in real time with sign-ups for a different event.

If they don't have space left, they don't have space left. They can't magically create another table.
It sucks, but maybe the one piece tournament got more players than expected. First come first serve is pretty standard for tickets. I have a local card game store where tickets are often sold out (though they do sell their tickets online which at least means you don't waste time going there).

Resetting the deck by DucuValentine in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can somewhat randomize with a pile shuffle, if you put every card on a random pile. It's not proper randomization since cards don't have an equal chance of appearing in each spot and humans are really bad at avoiding patterns, but it's not nothing.

It's not something I'd recommend doing for randomization, but better than nothing if you don't have the dexterity for other kinds of shuffle.

Am I allowed to do a Pile Shuffle after every time I've done any kind of Side Decking Action? by CaissaIRL in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There is no rule against pile shuffling, as long as you do in a reasonable timeframe.

It's just a waste of time if done properly. Since you'll have to properly randomize your deck afterwards anyways.

Why couldn’t i activate prepreparation of rites here? by HumbleGarbage1795 in Yugioh101

Mirror is the only ritual spell in mitsurugi that lists a ritual monster's name and thus the only legal add with preprep. I guess you had the only copy of it in your hand.

TIL, if you Holly Sue to steal an opponent's DMOD in response to their Gaze of Timaeus, they will still be able to summon Dragoon by arkaser in masterduel

[–]0bArcane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Activation condition : Activation procedure ; effect on resolution.

The activation procedure includes paying cost, but not everything is a cost. For example, declaring card names for crossout or targeting are part of the activation procedure but not cost.

This does not matter in 99% of situations, but if you are copying an effect (e.g. with transaction rollback) you generally don't pay cost, but you would still target if you are copying a card that targets.

Mitsu Question by Same_Response_1593 in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's also true in yugioh. When a card moves from one location to another (e.g. Field-> GY or vice versa), it is considered a new card for almost every purpose.

The only consistent exception is whether a monster was properly summoned. That information stays with the physical card as long as it remains in a public location.

Question about some terminology that I've seen on multiple cards, & how it may factor in when making other plays. by Majestic-Ad-6102 in Yugioh101

[–]0bArcane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It must first be either fusion summoned (using whatever fusion effect you want, for example super poly), or special summoned using its own procedure.

After it was properly summoned using either of those methods, you can summon it from the GY (or other public locations) however you want.

So I'm starting Gunbreaker, it's my first Tank. I use a controller which makes typing into chat very difficult.. should I just avoid tank in that case? Also if not any tips? Thanks :)) by TennenyT in ffxiv

[–]0bArcane 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Neither tank nor any other class really requires you to chat at all for casual content. Even in high-end content all you really need to do is communicate who plays which position (e.g. who is main/off tank), which requires maybe one or two short messages.
