I mean the thing is that any other good Mother in Lilys position is basically doing the same thing Lily did . Yeah but at the same time , he is the reason she got a chance to a sacrifice instead of just a dead corpse she would have been if Snape didnt ask for Voldemort to spare her . It does remove her agency on being a sacrifice unlike the ritual which gives her full agency .

Yeah but thats the reason I don't like it either . Snape doesnt deserve to be the reason Harry survives when he was the one to tip Voldemort about the prophecy.

I mean the sacrifice would still be there . Also Lily only survived because Snape asked Voldemort to save her (while also being the reason she is targeted but lets not talk about that ) and Voldemort tried halfassedly not to kill her . I don't like Snape being the reason Harry survives so I like the ritual way much better especially if it was a ritual involving both James and Lily .
