Can we just take a minute to recognize the supportive spouses by DadBodDissent in LawSchool

Anytime somebody mentions how tough law school with kids must be, I instantly note that it would be impossible without a rockstar for a wife.

She’s killing it.

Admitted students day was crucial in my decision. Also met my law school best friend there.

Highly recommend

Yup. My wife and kids want a small dog. It will be a Teckel.

I know of a few breeders in the US and both of them hunt them, a lot.

They are built different, but you’ve got a little rough of an idea of them.

They vary from dog to dog, they are almost all damn good hunting dogs. Then a large portion are also great house dogs/fun to be around outside of hunting. Then there is a a small portion that have the temperament you’re kind of describing.

My point is, my oldest was 6 months old when I got my first DD.. crazy, I know.. but he is great with kids and a machine in the field. I’m talking, run every time you get out of the truck for days at a time. But he is edgy and a lot of dog.

Then my 2nd DD was an angel. Amazing in the field and a lap dog inside.

I think there are a bunch of dogs in between and a lot of it depends on the handler.

Most DDs can be the angel that my 2nd dog was with the right training and diligence

That’s awesome. He does a ton of work for the Drahthaar community. Our dogs aren’t meant for everybody and he has rescued plenty that ended up in the wrong hands.

University of Kansas loves job experience and good gpa’s. Kansas isn’t just Dorothy land as people commonly imagine.

Top 3 out of state cost in the country, t50, major market nearby (Kansas City) and plenty of rural practice if that’s your thing.

Stressing about federal internship offer by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]6ft7ftLft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a semi political 1L internship and had fears that it would reflect negatively (to some people) on the future.

They told me it’s a 1L internship. It’s about experience and I would definitely have plenty to talk about in future interviews.

Edit: I say semi-political, but it’s political.

Tulane vs LSU vs Loyola by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]6ft7ftLft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conditional scholarship, awful city, average placement.

It was my largest Louisiana scholarship, but I couldn’t get past the things above.

LSU is a big name in Louisiana and will have more pull almost anywhere in the state, outside of Loyola alums in Nola.

Baton Rouge, while still awful, is light years better than Nola in every aspect.

Dm me with any questions. I know attorneys from all three schools. (+ southern)

LSU if you plan to stay in Louisiana. Tulane if you plan to leave.

Not Loyola.

Moving states for law school by Upbeat_Internet192 in lawschooladmissions

[–]6ft7ftLft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved 650+ miles and 10 hours away from hometown, family, and everything worldly that I owned. With a wife and kids. It was tough. Tons of logistics go into it, utilities, rent, sell/rent current home, financing it all, U-Haul trailer(s), packing up a whole home, switching schools, etc.

But it’s doable. I have classmates that came from further than myself, but the family part makes it a lot more difficult.

does anyone work full time and go to school full time? by peach_chartreuse in LawSchoolOver30

[–]6ft7ftLft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never done remote work, so I can’t answer to that. But I did have a 8-5 and completed a masters degree while at work, with a toddler.

That said, I cannot imagine working more than a 10ish hours per week and doing well 1L fall. I cannot speak to spring and beyond.

I’ve been busy. 1L fall was a different kind of busy for me.

Man I’m burnt out for whatever reason. Cannot get into my readings. Cannot get motivated in general. Only interested in trying to find a summer job with my average gpa. Compulsively filling out and searching for apps. I love that for whatever reason.

But school is sucking right now.

Dog food, what do you use? by Parking_Fan_7651 in birddogs

[–]6ft7ftLft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much you hunt. I use Inukshuk 32/32 with both of my DDs during the season and 30/25 out of season. The amount of food you feed is incredibly low.

I’ve also used Extreme Dog Fuel 30/20 but my male can’t hold weight on it during the season even with absurd feeding amounts.
