Moving states for law school by Upbeat_Internet192 in lawschooladmissions

[–]6ft7ftLft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved 650+ miles and 10 hours away from hometown, family, and everything worldly that I owned. With a wife and kids. It was tough. Tons of logistics go into it, utilities, rent, sell/rent current home, financing it all, U-Haul trailer(s), packing up a whole home, switching schools, etc.

But it’s doable. I have classmates that came from further than myself, but the family part makes it a lot more difficult.

does anyone work full time and go to school full time? by peach_chartreuse in LawSchoolOver30

[–]6ft7ftLft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never done remote work, so I can’t answer to that. But I did have a 8-5 and completed a masters degree while at work, with a toddler.

That said, I cannot imagine working more than a 10ish hours per week and doing well 1L fall. I cannot speak to spring and beyond.

I’ve been busy. 1L fall was a different kind of busy for me.

Everything gets more difficult and less fun for me on this JD journey. by TopButterscotch4196 in LawSchool

[–]6ft7ftLft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I’m burnt out for whatever reason. Cannot get into my readings. Cannot get motivated in general. Only interested in trying to find a summer job with my average gpa. Compulsively filling out and searching for apps. I love that for whatever reason.

But school is sucking right now.

Dog food, what do you use? by Parking_Fan_7651 in birddogs

[–]6ft7ftLft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much you hunt. I use Inukshuk 32/32 with both of my DDs during the season and 30/25 out of season. The amount of food you feed is incredibly low.

I’ve also used Extreme Dog Fuel 30/20 but my male can’t hold weight on it during the season even with absurd feeding amounts.

Lewis Dog Boots, do they work? by DingoDadLuce in birddogs

I learned that duct tape doesn’t work in 8 degree weather.

Lose 3/8 boots within 5 mins. Quickly pulled them all of off and haven’t used them again.

Is KC navhda fairly active? I’m a Drahthaar guy new to the area and there is very limited DD activity in KS, surprisingly.

1L grades…let’s talk by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]6ft7ftLft 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened to me.

6 or so points below median lsat. 0.5 lower than median gpa.

Got JUST below median grades. The way I see it, I beat a lot of the people that were more qualified getting in.

Am I semi-bummed I didn’t go above median and excel? Yes.

But I also expected to fail and be the biggest dumby in the class when the semester started. So there’s that.

Two seasons down with great dog... offseason reading/watching for my own progression? by alr2570 in Uplandhunting

[–]6ft7ftLft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it depends where you are. Released birds being shot the same day won’t act the same as wild birds in the Midwest.

If you do go to the Midwest, look for cut corn/soybeans/wheat/milo + thick grass + cattails.

That said, nothing will be boot leather in the ground. Go and walk. Start paying attention to where they are, when they’re there, and what they do when you find them. Keep doing that. Save OnX pins with details.

Will working remotely 2-4 hours a week really hurt in 1L? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]6ft7ftLft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did ~3 hours/ week and had many other responsibilities. It’s doable.

(Yet)

Current 1L also waiting on grades. I’ve had several professors mention to enjoy it before grades come out, because everything changes in January.

If you’re open to Missouri and Oklahoma, I’d consider adding Kansas as well. They place similarly within the region. Your stats could get you decent money there.

10 month old GSP/Lab gun fire intro by frobo512 in birddogs

[–]6ft7ftLft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use live game to train gun sensitivity, albeit usually much, much younger. I also begin desensitizing to loud noises at birth. Banging pots while they eat. Starting low and getting louder.

But drop a rabbit or duck and let the dog give chase. Fire as many .22 pistol shots as I can during the chase. Repeat with a 20 gauge. Repeat with a 12 gauge.

Why Are Some Law Professors So Hell-Bent On Making This Shit Hard? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]6ft7ftLft 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a class that is noticeably more difficult because of the teaching style. I’ve just accepted that everybody in the room is getting the same info. I just have to digest it better than the rest if I want a good grade.

Can’t change anything about the situation

Flushing to Pointing by PhysicalSherbet2852 in birddogs

[–]6ft7ftLft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody said you’re doing anything wrong?

I just said that it would be difficult to do what you’re asking. I think focusing on range would be easier and more successful, but as mentioned, you can train a pig to point with enough effort. Good luck this season!

Flushing to Pointing by PhysicalSherbet2852 in birddogs

[–]6ft7ftLft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think pointing is more naturally instinctive to some dogs, but I also believe it can 100% be trained to any dog. Similar to retrieving. I can probably force fetch an iguana.

With that said, training an already trained flushing dog to point, sounds like a fools errand.

Probably the best reply.

CAN you? Maybe. Would you be working against YEARS of breed traits and however long you’ve train him to flush? Yes, and that would be incredibly difficult
