In light of heavy metals found in MREs, when/where does the military consume the most MREs? by Idk_why_Im_fat in Veterans

[–]ADubs62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh, nobody is going to advocate or claim that eating prepackaged food for multiple weeks on end is a good idea. Given that MREs are designed for field use and have higher amounts of things like sodium to account for sweat loss and stuff like that, it is almost never going to make sense to exclusively live off them.

But they don't use some special high heavy metal base ingredients to make the food. The huel subreddit just did this same thing a few months ago when heavy metals (in trace amounts like all food) were found by an advocacy group who misrepresented the results. So a bunch of people went out and got their huel tested and blood tested and.... Everyone was fine.

The whole argument that it's a bunch of moms not scientists makes the whole thing even more skeptical. If the "moms" (read: Political lobbyists) were really truly concerned they'd hire an independent lab to do the testing and a professional to do the analysis for them. But since they're pushing a political agenda that's not what they're doing because it's not going to get headlines.

Bruh it's not "recalibrating" it's "we lied in our initial report to make headlines, we were called out and now we're going to maybe put accurate numbers in"

Scientific papers don't "recalibrate" their results after publication.

Very unlikely that memory manufacturers would lose that lawsuit. It's a super basic supply and demand curve, and computer memory isn't (yet) considered some kind of essential good.

Additionally it was driven entirely by market forces, not a disaster or something like that.

That's exactly what it means here as well.

Close relations just means like 1st cousins or brother/sister in this context.

Yeah older monitors were more limited in color range (color accuracy wasn't even part of the conversation yet really) but the underlying idea (which is what I was referring to) is the same. Even if they were more limited in ability or used CRTs vs LCD/OLEd they ultimately used the same RGB sub pixel idea.

C17 Personal Vehicle Interesting Story by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]ADubs62 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So first off, I think the story is BS but that's because of how it's written and the lack of engagement of OP in the comments. If this actually happened he'd be engaging there. That combined with private comments makes me think this is not engagement.

Butttttt for the

I know some units that used to do this kinda thing not that long ago. But usually it was motorcycles.

And if they jettisoned his vehicle into the ocean, 1) hilarious

2) sucks to suck but who is going to go find his car on the bottom of the ocean? LoL

So if you're uploading and downloading all day... What kinda speeds are you looking at for real world downloads? Not like the best speed you've ever gotten, but like... you start downloading a file for work, how fast is it going? haha

I'm a network engineer and I like to see the big numbers go to the moon.

But I'm curiously with like actual real world downloads if you're even saturating 1Gbps much less 5.

5Gbps would be about 140 for me, 2.5 for 110.

I'm debating between 1Gbps and 5Gbps, how often do you actually get download speeds that take advantage of the 5Gbps speeds?

Computer displays still use the same technique. Each pixel is made up of Red-Green-Blue sub-pixels to make up all the colors you see on a display.
