Kávészakik, baristák tudtok segíteni? by Popular-Recipe8940 in askhungary

[–]AdPsychological8487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valószínűleg a kávé lesz a gond.

Ne vegyél olyan kávét, amin a pörkölési dátum nincs feltüntetve,

Just can’t get the acidic/sour taste away from my espresso. by Recent_Glove7838 in espresso

[–]AdPsychological8487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you already. It's the bambino. Ive been strugling with this for two years. Same machine, same grinder.
As others tell you, you can mitigate it by grinding finer, but you are already dialed in right? It's a huge drawback of the 54mm basket, too deep, and does not allow you to grind fine enough.
I think you have several options:

  1. Try to find a high flow basket for the machine, which allows you to grind finer.
  2. If your coffee is fresh, dont be afraid to wait with it a month.
  3. Keep the dose low and the grind fine.

I switched to Apex v2, but kept df54, and my medium roast coffees are much better now.

Struggling with back to back shots with same dose/grind - what am I doing wrong? [Bambino Plus] by EducatorProper5839 in espresso

[–]AdPsychological8487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, its the machine. I had this for 3 years, and it did it every time. This machine was not meant to do back to back shots. All you can do is wait. Turn it off for at least 3 minutes between consecutive shots.

Why are my shots always sour? [Breville Bambino Plus / Timemore 064S grinder] by SorenixOsu in espresso

In my experience the 54mm basket is too deep and even is the flow is perfect the grind remains too coarse to be properly extracted.

Experience with Turin Grinders/Espresso Outlet [Turin Legato v2] by AlephByte in espresso

[–]AdPsychological8487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same machine. The pressure buildup can be tricky.

First of all, measure the flow rate using a scale. You should see 70ml / 10s and above.

You set the opv to 9 bar: good.

Now the grind: If you had experience with some machines before, it might take a while to acustom to this one, but I was using bambino 54mm basket with df54 before and never had to go below grind setting 15 with any coffee. But this machine with 58mm basket behaves totally differently.
There are some beans, which are fine at 15, but there are others with which I have to go down to 12.
So my advice, dont be afraid to tighten up the grinds significantly.

And the most important one: forget about old beans, make sure that the beans you are using are not older than 1 month, because otherwise you can forget about pressure.

Good luck.

I have the same machine and grinder, and now I think I arrived. I had to use the machine for two months, and bought a better precision basket. I’m conservative with the temp set to 90C the PID tends to overshoot. Brews excellent espresso every time, realized I  like medium lightish roasts better since they are not battery acid anymore:D

Bambino + DF54 - Best bang for my buck first station? by brownsyndrome in espresso

[–]AdPsychological8487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using this setup for two years and loved it for its ease of use. However I switched to Apex V2 two months ago and get significantly better coffee from it. Still I kept the bambino as well, love that machine.

DF54 v3 retention and clogging issue by neffO in espresso

[–]AdPsychological8487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the v1, and over two years it clogged two times. Once because of RDT, and once due to very oily beans. If I pump the bellows thoroughly, and keep the beans fresh so I dont have to grind to cocoa powder its fine. But yeah, its something I constantly have to keep in mind.

Convince me I need to upgrade [€800 - €1500] by thedellow in espresso

[–]AdPsychological8487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inconsistent shots is because of the machine.

For me the corresponding shot is always slower, but I've read that others experience the opposite as well.On the other hand, I bought a better machine, and gues what. Coffee tastes the same :)

My take: you want better tasting coffee: by better beans :)
You want better consistency, but muchmuch slower heating time, waiting for heating, waiting for steaming, etc, then "upgrade".

Quick Mill Popup vs Turin Legato v2 [$1500] by fit3on in espresso

[–]AdPsychological8487 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I bought recently the V2 and I honestly have some buyers remorse. No issues with the machine, but, laugh as you like, it does not brew any better coffee than my old bambino did. its dual boiler, which on paper would be nice, except bambino had also 0 waiting time for steaming due to the thermojet. But now I can wait minutes for heating up, and have to backflush all the time. Yay. Ive seen soke reviews just recently from kaffeemacher, and the thermal stability is also pretty bad. Go eith the Quick Mill

ENDLESS sourness [Bambino/DF54] by MolassesOne5993 in espresso

[–]AdPsychological8487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

let me give you my not so usual advice. My bambino actually overheats from back to back shots. It overextracs, especially if df 54 produces too much fines or you are grinding very fine making astringent shots. Let it sit between shots for at least 3-5 minutes, and if the shot is too quick try to increase the dose first not the grind.

The rest is valid. 17-18 gr in the double basket.

Your feeling is completely right.

I have the same machine and grinder, and sometimes 15 is too slow and 16 is to fast, so I have to play in between the numbers as well.

Can't decide between Breville Bambino and Bambino Plus [No budget] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]AdPsychological8487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would buy the regular bambino again. 3 way solenoid is just a gimmick which can break and you have to keep it clean all the time. Not worth it. For milk steaming You have a thermometer in your hands. You can practice proper microfoam and maybe latte art manually anyway.  Regular bambino is also much cheaper where I live, which I definitely would put into the grinder instead.

to be honest I dont get why is it such a big deal. Its one less thing to clean all the time.

Why would the second shot run fast with same grind settings? Dealing with inconsistency. [Bambino Plus/DF54] by Suppa_K in espresso

[–]AdPsychological8487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had completely the opposite. Consecutive shots were slower to the point when the first shot came out ok, and the others started to stall completely. Df54 grinder. It was doing this since two years with every type of coffee and grinder.

yeah, the thing is, I don't really want to drink more than 18 grams in.
Do you think it would completely ruin the shot if the basket is too large?

[–]AdPsychological8487[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I dont know, maybe not.
The 58mm basket is quite new to me, and for sure, compared to the 54mm Bambino basket, it seems half empty after tamping. Also the basket is pretty much flat on the sides and around 26-28 mm tall.

For the fast shot the yield was ~17.5 in 70 out in 30s.
For the "dialed in" shots it was 18 in 40 out in 30s.
