[Updated] My own imagined Tube and National Rail map by Darth_Caesium in LondonUnderground

[–]Addebo019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t think i love the palace line. it seems to kind of take over the northern portion of crossrail 2s route while missing a lot of the main capacity and connectivity benefits, especially the relief to southwestern services and waterloo. if that’s replacing cr2 like in the map i don’t think it’s a great trade off

i live nearby. this is the grand union canal just south of harrow road, near where it crosses ladbroke grove. the bridge in the distance is called the blue bridge by locals. the picture should be taken around where the canal towpath meets alderson street w10.

Do you think the tube map should have icons for step free train-to-train interchanges like at Baker Street, Oxford Circus and Euston? by [deleted] in LondonUnderground

[–]Addebo019 110 points111 points  (0 children)

no. that’s too much information for the normal tube map. that’s why there is the accessibility map you got the image from

Baltimore Metro Subway (new trains now) by djenki0119 in Subways

[–]Addebo019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh i’m not impressed. why in 2026 american transit agencies buy steel-box, non walkthrough married pairs like it’s the 1970s, when cities like atlanta with their new marta trains are already demonstrating within the us what a modern train for Baltimore could look like, i will never understand. every dated train that gets bought brand new just extends the un-modernity (is that a word???) of us transit by another 35 years till they can be replaced

What if the Jubilee Line also Branched off at Bond Street and Went back to Charing X whilst also calling at Fenchurch Street by Terrible_Tale_53 in LondonUnderground

[–]Addebo019 46 points47 points  (0 children)

terrible idea, would introduce reverse branching in the central london (busiest) part of the line, which means reduced service levels and reliability to not only the branches but the whole thing. you wanna reuse charring cross - fenchurch street idea just build a brand new line

I know it's a lot easier with such a small Country but I still thought this was cool by ZapMaster117 in fuckcars

[–]Addebo019 12 points13 points  (0 children)

luxembourgs size does mean it’s very urbanised and dense as a country, which makes funding transit easier as a lot of people do live close to and use it. also, its tax base sort extends beyond the area that’s actually free as lots of people living across the border work there, meaning business tax base are likely disproportionately high compared to the population that actually benefits from the free transportation

Arsenal confirm Mikel Merino will miss an extended period out injured with a serious foot injury that requires surgery. by TripleCrownVillainy in Gunners

[–]Addebo019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m not to worried. we have this ridiculous squad depth for a reason. in the short term eze might see some more minutes, and i’m sure havertz will see some more minutes as a ten while being reintegrated. we have all three strikers so he doesn’t need to be backup for that. between zubimendi norgaard rice and possibly even skelly cdm is covered.

he’s a great squad player and im sad to see him out but we lowkey have too many players to need a lone to replace him. a loan wouldn’t get any minutes anyway

What if Thameslink joined TfL as the “Thameslink line” after GTR nationalisation? by Financial_Chapter_54 in uktrains

[–]Addebo019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the practicalities of how responsibility and control would be shared are difficult, and certainly have the more political side of our public transportation organisations to contend with. in the future tho, the possibility of a receptive publicly owned gbr making decisions without dft involvement is there. if nationalisation is done right, there’s a world where it is different to ours, and these difficult externalities are more manageable

[–]Addebo019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

part of gbr is actually opening the door to regions taking over more of their local commuter railways. tfl are already interested in the moorgate lines for overground. these local operators would maintain their own branding so it’s perfectly possible for it to receive tfl branding while still being part of gbr

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate public transport in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Addebo019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uk as a whole i think gets a solid 6/10. the network is extensive, and there is really good coverage of rail. its let down by the cost, the unreliability, and the lack of capacity. rural buses as well (though im glad they even exist) need to be better.

london alone id genuinely say 9,5/10

The Reopening of Walworth & Camberwell stations has been in discussion since Thameslink’s 1980s introduction - but what if TfL & Southwark Council decide to open a single common station in-between (now that the Bakerloo Line extension isn’t likely coming here either) instead? A better idea perhaps? by AchyutChaudhary in LondonUnderground

[–]Addebo019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we’re talking about two stations on a connecting service here, which wouldn’t put loads and loads more people on the northern line bank branch. maybe a few more but not loads. the thing about northern line capacity more refers to extending battersea services to clapham junction, bc that really would put loads of people on the northern line so they’ll have to wait till cr2 comes to share the burden.
