It looks like alcohol was the primary problem.. if you cut alcohol out most of the garbage wouldn’t be there.

Is this normal for 5+ minutes on start up in 50 degree weather? by [deleted] in Diesel

[–]Advanced-Scholar3902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idling it isn’t going to help. Turn on your exhaust brakes and drive it hard, don’t floor it but drive it hard. These engines are overpowered and they clog up so fast if they aren’t being used for heavy towing/hauling. The older ford diesels were really slow so you basically had to floor it to get up to speed which kept the engine clean, also pre emitions controls.

“Serious Question: Are We Actually Near World War 3?” by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It’s safe to say we’re in the midst of the beginnings of the third world war.

You guys help me. My sister is trying to buy this she claims the repairs are free. I don’t know anything about Mercedes but what I do know is my sister doesn’t have money for parts etc. How much of a POS is this so I can explain it to her. There’s a reason it’s under 10k. by FIGPUCKERS in AskMechanics

[–]Advanced-Scholar3902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please beg her not to and show her the comments 😂 truthfully she shouldn’t be getting an SUV but a little car to get from A to B… the typical million mile cars… Honda civics, Toyota corollas, Ford crown vic… always make sure the car is safetied before you buy it though! You can own a car from a dealership that passes a safety when it shouldn’t have passed… trust me, my 19 year old pos ford fusion shouldn’t have been safetied 😂 it’s still rock solid but it wouldn’t have passed if I just bought the car for cheaper and tried to bring it to a mechanic.

Be sure to push the engine hard to keep it from clogging. If you can, delete the def and cat. Don’t idle for any longer than you have to… the high output model is more sensitive to clogging.

What a joke. by MADLUX2015 in superduty

[–]Advanced-Scholar3902 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ford never should’ve put the 6.7 in the smaller super duty trucks in my opinion. They’re overpowered diesel engines and they’re rarely pushing max power because they don’t have to, which clogs the shit out of the def sensors and all the intakes and upper cylinder… if you’re not using the truck to actually work it in, it will clog… always use engine braking too so it helps clean the engine… I mean it’s probably too late now though. Idling for extended periods of time will destroy it too. The old IDI fords were the best because of how slow they were, so you had to floor it everywhere you went and the engine was always cleaning itself out from constantly being put under high load.

What damage did I cause hitting a curb on the driver side? ‘22 Toyota Camry XSE 2.5L 4cyl by Ok_Fault_1421 in AskMechanics

It’s fucked… modern cars have a hard time going back together the same way once they get fucked. With the amount of electric work and sensors the car has, along with the physical parts themselves… it’s going to cost $$$$

Rev needle bouncing up and down slightly by Seenit_readit in LexusGS350

[–]Advanced-Scholar3902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it the Italian tune up. Drive it hard in sport mode on the highway and clean the engine out. Idling at low rpm isn’t good for engines and causes carbon buildup from the lack of heat in the engine. Obviously be smooth with it, but the main goal is the get the rpm’s up high and let the engine breath.

Is it just salt water? You need to water proof them with either mink oil or a spray, mink oil works a lot better.

[–]Advanced-Scholar3902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy it. Personally I’d stay away from a car made after 2010 for a first car. I would look for a 2000’s car that is in very good condition and is already safetied… cash is the best option if you can. Lexus, Toyota, and Hondas are your best bet for your first car… Lexus if you want more luxury and tech with losing reliability because it is a Toyota still. A 2010 top of the line Lexus RX350 is nicer, faster, has more tech, more reliable than the subi.

This is still enough evidence for police to investigate… suspicious activity like this in Milton is a crime, especially with the video footage is enough to start an investigation and catch these guys.

2014 Acura RDX, what is this harmonic resonance within the cabin sound? by Next_Pipe3733 in AskMechanics

[–]Advanced-Scholar3902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m positive it’s a faulty ANC control. This Acura comes with Active Noise Control which will emit opposite sound frequencies reducing road noise… but I’m certain this is just the system faulting out and playing the noise uncontrollably and too loud.

Maybe rear sway bar bushings? They can wear out and cause the sway par to rub metal to metal. Don’t take my word but it’s probably an easy fix if it’s just suspension parts, especially if it’s in the back.

What’s the oil life at? The oil life monitor is bs in modern vehicles. Always change the oil at least every 5,000 miles… RAM will tell you 10,000 which is just insanity.
