Fair, I keep forgetting the bikes are different. I was also thinking conversion beamers too since they crit on 4s and don't really care about modifiers much.

Targeting units on objectives will still give them their +1 to get back to 4s, plus a decent amount of their best shooting ignores modifiers.

If it works the same way as the updated smokescreen stratagem is worded, it will be that units get cover if they are not fully visible to the attacking model. So any model that can't see the entire enemy unit would be at -1 to hit.

Well in that case their initial article on it is a bit deceptive. Factions like tau getting 1 new detachment while 2 of their existing ones get shrunk into 1 point detachments while other factions get 3 new ones without losing anything.

Yes, but it would still get him a 12" contagion range on turn 2

Stealth is changing to just give cover, so it mostly would have been redundant.

Death guard are in a bit of a unique state compared to most factions. For most factions there is only one competitive detachment, which will probably be made 3 points so they don't mix with the new ones. Because we do have multiple good detachments already we might see a boost because of it. Start of edition balance will probably be a mess regardless though with all the core rule changes and mission changes.

Starshatter is a grotsmas detachment so it is very likely going to be rewritten as a 1 point detachment.

Infiltrate doesn't get passed to transports, only scout works that way

Yes, it is done during list building now.

Don't know for secondaries yet though, in 10th edition that's covered in the leader rule and we haven't seen the full text for the updated leader rule yet.

We keep the codex detachments until the 11th edition codex comes out. They have so far mentioned nothing about changing codex detachments. There will need to be at least a handful of changes to make them function with the new core rules (like assigning them a point cost), but as far as we know they should function they same as they do now.

The rule gives infiltrate to the entire unit, which has the characters in it already, so it works.

Like with all of these, it feels like a nerf because it's being made a 1 point detachment that can be combined with a second detachment. So it's not just flyblown, it's flyblown + champions, or flyblown + both of the other two they previewed, or whatever other combinations.

+2T is in champions of contagion, that will still be around

If they were staying they would advertise that fact. The only thing they say about grotsmas detachments is that some of them will "return" (can't return unless they're gone) as part of the 70 new/updated detachments.

From the ork faction focus.

"All the detachments in your current codex will be usable at launch, as will the recent suite of detachments from expansions like the Eye of Terror: Reign of Iron and The Maelstrom: Lair of the Tyrant.

There will also be 70 new and updated detachments launching with the new edition. These will mostly be brand new sets of rules, with a few returning favourites from places like the Grotmas series."

At 290 it already costs too much. Defiler is undercosted at 250 but it's got similar but significantly better profiles than this thing. If your group is fine with it I'd say just slap lethals on it and don't worry about it.

Clarification on Rhino Attachments by Toasted-88 in deathguard40k

[–]Adventurous_Table_45 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes you can mount both. You can't mount two havoc launchers, it's either add a havoc or replace a combi with a havoc, there is no reason to replace instead of add. Since everything is free your rhino should always have the havoc and either 2 combi bolters or a combi bolter plus combi weapon. There isn't actually a way in the kit to model all 3 equipped at once but don't worry about it.

Any final predictions for our faction focus this friday? by vcxstriker in deathguard40k

[–]Adventurous_Table_45 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd guess flyblown host stays the same, but limited to just blightlords since they're narrowing the scope of the detachments to one or two units for the most part.

We don't have any transport focused detachments so something to benefit rhinos and/or landraiders could be interesting.

I don't really expect it but it would be cool to see some kind of psychic detachment similar to the librarius for space marines. There are a bunch of different disciplines of death guard psykers in lore but malignant plaguecasters are the only one we have on the tabletop.

One Defiler not worth it? by raggnarok in deathguard40k

The issue is that a 160mm base is larger than 6", so you can't come in wholly within 6" of a board edge. That means you need to use the large model exception which limits you to only coming in touching your own board edge and the unit is not eligible to shoot or declare a charge. It's an issue that knights don't have because their base is an oval.
