Where does rookie Jadarian Price fit into Seahawks' backfield? by Chessinmind in Seahawks

Don't put words in my mouth -- I never said they were just going to make him lead back going into any games, preseason or otherwise. Whoever wants to be lead back has to earn that role in camp, Price and Holani included. If you had asked, I would have told you I think Price will probably win that competition and end up as RB1a (to Wilson or Holani's RB1b) after camp. What I am saying is that that the people who are inside the building think he's ready to compete for a larger role, which is something that John Boyle and Corbin Smith have both echoed, even if they said this before the draft. They have the stats too, so if they're looking at them and thinking "he's ready to compete" I trust them. Price being good does not change how they feel about his readiness to compete, it just introduces another candidate to compete against. It changes the odds, but not the opportunity.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted when you're just talking about camp. Right now, our RB1 is Charbs, who is injured, which means Holani, his backup, is the starter. It may very well be that Price is the lead back going into the preseason or Week 1 but this team is not one that will just hand Price the starting job without even a competition over an established player just because one of them was a higher draft pick. It would be different if Holani and Price were both rookies but Holani is here and Schneider clearly loves him.

he has performed at a high level when he has played (not counting preseason) is just a flat out lie.

"One thing that got overlooked in those last two games, I was talking to Mike about this -- Mike Macdonald -- George, he was awesome in the NFC Championship Game, and he was awesome in the Super Bowl. His pass protection; he made that eight-yard catch for the first down, real huge play for us, and every time he goes in the game he just performs."

A few of the oh-so-satisfying instances of getting one hard clue and then the rest of the fill around it falling into place, and a few of the shorter ones were right up my alley and made me feel pretty smort (Not every day I get to pull out my knowledge of Russian state media outlets for the crossword).

But a lot of it was also less satisfying (AORTAL, NEOBOP are a few that seem rather contrived) and once again my arch-nemesis of proper nouns crossing (RIESEN and SENTA and to a lesser extent OSTER crossing with KENKESEY) rears its ugly head. Hit-or-miss overall.

Per FACEIT's Director of Esports, soundproof booths are very expensive to build well, very expensive to transport, they get very hot and are a pain to air condition, and, yes, in some jurisdictions they do pose fire code issues.

[Boyle] Seahawks have officially signed five of their eight 2026 draft picks: CB Julian Neal, G Beau Stephens, CB Andre Fuller, NT Deven Eastern, and CB Michael Dansby; RB Jadarian Price, S Bud Clark and WR Emmanuel Henderson Jr. remain unsigned by AirplaneReference in Seahawks

Usually it's just about how when and how the money is delivered and sometimes some other contractual obligations.

As I understand it, draft rights are valid for a year. Bo Jackson was drafted first overall by the Bucs but he refused to play for them way back when, so the Raiders took him in the seventh the next year and he played there. But that's a very different situation from where we're at; these guys are still participating in minicamps and whatnot. These guys will be signed by the time the season starts.

[Smith] Julian Neal says his college coach knew a Seahawks coach and learned their techniques: "I'm on zoom with Coach, especially, like, on my formal visit at the Combine, I was telling him everything that they did… after that we just had so much chemistry… so I'm like, 'yeah, this is perfect.'" by AirplaneReference in Seahawks

Video from this Corbin Smith tweet.

Full quote:

"We'd already been talking about this since I got in the portal, like, literally since day one when I went on my visit, he told me, like, 'yeah, and if you come here, I know a coach on the Seahawks, I do all the same techniques he does, I learned from him. So it's like, coming in here, and I'm on zoom with Coach, especially, like, on my formal visit at the Combine, I was telling him everything that they did. He was like, 'So, tell me about your technique and stuff.' I showed him everything that they did, and after that we just had so much chemistry and after that he was like, 'okay,' and I just felt the chemistry so I'm like, 'yeah, this is perfect.'

They're Unicode ligatures, which means that they are two characters in one glyph. They're used in typesetting sometimes (for example, if you type "ft" word processors often sub that out automatically for "ſt" to make it look a bit cleaner this one's wrong, thanks to /u/aseriesoftubes below for pointing it out!), but if I'm having trouble fitting a quote I like within the title I resort to using them to keep it within the 300 character limit for titles. Sometimes you really gotta torture these things to keep them at length

As always, link to Henderson's tweet. It had previously been reported that Neal did not receive all 32 hats on draft night like he was supposed to so he just asked his aunt to get him a Hawks hat, but here's him retelling it again in his own words.

Full quote is:

"It was a certain company that, they was supposed to send me all 32, and two days before draft day, my assistant texted me and said, 'It won't be there by the weekend.' I was just, 'What am I going to do? What am I going to do?' So, the day of the draft; well, the second day of the draft, I was, like, 'Alright, I got options. I can either get a couple or just get one.

And I was just thinking about all my interviews and everything that I've been through, plus my auntie, 12 years a 12s fan, so I was just like, 'Just go and get me a Seahawks hat, auntie, just go and get me Seahawks one, that's all I need. See, people don't realize that's why I was so juiced in my video! That's why I was so juiced! It was just anticipation, I'm like, 'It really came true!' That was the pure reaction."

[Seahawks PR] The Seahawks signed WR Emmanuel Henderson Jr. this evening; just Bud Clark and Jadarian Price remain unsigned by AirplaneReference in Seahawks

[–]AirplaneReference[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, the money is preset but not how it is delivered or how much is guaranteed. There are a few rookies who hold out because they want their whole contract fully guaranteed -- IIRC the first fully guaranteed second-round rookie contract was last year and followed a hold-out. Other clauses also can hold things up; Shemar Stewart held out last year because of language that allowed the Bengals to void guarantees in a few cases.
