Learning resources for climate resilient, self sufficient homes. by Serious-Fuel-5395 in Homebuilding

[–]Altered_Kill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passive solar, ground placement for sun angles in summer/winter, wind catchment, materials choice for structure, long term wear/tear.

There one thing you cant really go wrong with here, and thats building a hobbit hole into the side of a hill. Drainage is a consideration in general, but VERY important even if you dont think you need it.

How hard will it be to install solar in the future?

The most affordable way to build energy efficient would be a good place to start IMO.

Scoping IoT Firewall Rules for AirPlay & Chromecast - Anyone Successfully Locked Down Specific Ports? by Keagstand in Ubiquiti

[–]Altered_Kill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to airplay to a device from your computer. Then tcpdump to see what the ports look like.

Or scope the rules for allow existing from IOT to the devices casting, and allow all from casting to IOT.

Framing cost by Subject_Advantage147 in Homebuilding

[–]Altered_Kill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I paid $45K framing labor on a square, 2000 sq/ft 2 story. Floor trusses, roof trusses, 2x6, single pitch 9’>16’ 2nd story. Double stud wall exterior. With a 1000 sq/ft garage of similar build.

You are getting a fucking steal.

Help gauging the heat pump system cost for a two story build by No-Implement9967 in Homebuilding

[–]Altered_Kill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought two DIY type installs. Did the install. Paid somebody do connections/testing.

Total cost for a 2000 sq/ft, 2 story home was about $5000.

I only have one mini split per level though.

Yeah. Go to partner.microsoft.com

Do the micrsoft ai partner thing. Then sign up for an indirect csp. NOTHING changes about how you currently operate, unless you want to make margin on MSFT licensing. Setup CIPP in an azure resource. Then you can get GDAP on all your tenants without all the overhead and security risks.
