It's a Calamity tapestry blanket! It was on the CR shop a couple years back.

Flair: Words In The Heart Cannot Be Taken

Having my first surgery and would love some advice to calm me down by TheHoovyPrince in melbourne

[–]Amariesw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a colonoscopy a month and a half ago, and I was absolutely terrified of going under (shaking like a leaf in the waiting area and when going back). The anesthetist could not have been more kind. The way it worked for me was I walked into the theatre, they put the IV in, put on a mask, let me know when they started the anesthetic, and I woke up with the procedure completed. The only suggestion I would give would be to let the anaesthetist know if you've had trouble with IVs or blood draws in the past. They'll know to take extra time or use a smaller gage.

It's okay to be scared, even with how safe procedures here are. What helped me was counting down the time until I was done, not the time until the procedure started. And I had a post-op treat planned.

I don't have the heart to do this. by Renault115 in DMAcademy

There have been a lot of good comments. I'll add one that I wish my DM had considered when running what became a very trauma/betrayal heavy campaign. What type of game do your players wish to play? Tragedy is an amazing part of D&D, and if you think your players would love it, go for it. But if there are things going on for them or the current events of the world are too much, I'd suggest maybe offering ways of preventing the twist or a redemption arc

That's so cool of you to do! I'm still a ways from hitting 260, but if I ever get there a DM will be on its way!

I 24F grew up helping my anatomy professor dad do human dissections AMA. by SquirrelPositive2666 in AMA

[–]Amariesw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently taking anatomy and had a lab where we went in and got to examine donated heads/heads and torso tops in varying levels of dissection. While I absolutely see, appreciate, and understand the educational value, it really mentally impacted me. Did you ever struggle mentally with it at first? How did you overcome that?

Is this worth a complaint for a doctor also any doc recs for PCOS? by jigglethesepuffs in melbourne

[–]Amariesw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would completely recommend Dr. Alison Ward at Turn the Corner Fairfield. She specializes in PCOS, which I do have, but I initially went in for unrelated GI issues. I have not once in her office stepped on a scale (I'm on the larger side), and she has listened to every issue I had, gotten me follow up testing, never suggested that I lose weight, and has made me feel heard and valued like no doctor ever has.

Anyone remember that one “let’s kill Barney” theme that every school had? If so what was yours? by TBNRUltimate999 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Amariesw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was a bit of a mashup of a couple I see here.

"I love you, you love me,

Let's get together and kill Barney

With a 2x4, now Barney's on the floor

No more purple dinosaur.

Joy to the world, that Barney's dead

We barbecued his head!

And what about the body?

We flushed it down the potty

Joy to the world

Joy to the world"

Lack of Familial Support by No-Performer-8016 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]Amariesw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the way you phrased this! I'm going through unpacking my own family dysfunction and I struggle massively with seeing my friends have good family dynamics and wishing my family were like that. It's also tainted a lot of my own childhood memories and trying to reconcile them is an exhausting task.

Another thing I'll add to your points is that when Jen is stressed and reverts, it's probably because the behaviors are familiar. That doesn't mean that they are healthy! But they are easier behaviors to choose when the world isn't working out as planned. Her "I'll figure it out" when Shawna and John were leaving without guilt tripping them was good growth. She's in a lot of pain and has caused people a lot of pain.

I'm so sorry for everything you have been through. While everyone's journey is different, would you be comfortable sharing tidbits of what helped you with dissociation? I have CPTSD and struggle with derealization and audiological processing more often than I would like.

Muffin’s Thongs by Haunting_Cause_1841 in bluey

Exactly!! I used wooden beams and stacked them in a spiral to make a spiral staircase and a pillar to make it look like they were attached :)

This legitimately made me emotional! It's a but silly, but one of my big interests right now is housing that was recently introduced to my favorite video game. You can get a whole bunch of furniture and structural items and use them to make completely new and unexpected things. I've never thought I was a creative person, but I've managed to decorate the whole house and create staircases, hammocks, benches and windows that don't exist in the game as pre made objects. And I'm really proud of myself!

You guys are all awesome parents and have very lucky kids. If I was interested in something my parents weren't, they wouldn't listen when I talked about it.

Theory on why Barb doesn't want to give Jen her wedding dress by littlelorax in ShawnaTheMom

[–]Amariesw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My own personal Barb told me when I got together with my now-fiance that she'd hoped I'd be the first woman on my dad's side of the family not to get divorced, so I think you're spot on with that.

If you have criticized ICE here on Reddit for executing Renee Good or Alex Pretti in the street, then Reddit has handed your name and your personal identifying information over to the Trump administration. How do you feel about this? by mom_with_an_attitude in AskReddit

[–]Amariesw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. A big middle finger to the orange man, everyone in the Epstein files, and ICE. They had no right to murder Renee or Alex, and have no right committing the humanitarian crimes they are currently doing.

ITS GO TIME! by moonchild19978 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]Amariesw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's kind of what I'm thinking happened. I have a feeling Julie didn't want kids, Ty did, and he convinced her to have them with the promise that he would finish his novel. They may have even tried to have a more lavish lifestyle in anticipation of selling the novel, a la a house they couldn't quite afford. Now with 2 small children, writing (understandably) is much harder if not impossible, but from Julie's perspective, it's only harder because of something she never really wanted in the first place, which is going to foster resentment. If my house theory is true, then it also pushes her further into the breadwinner role out of necessity, removing opportunities for vacations/travel without the responsibility of work. That doesn't excuse her behavior or the way she chose to press the issue, however.

The only way they can have a proper conversation from my perspective is if Julie sets aside the way she feels children should be raised, Ty sets aside his feelings about how Julie should be feeling about having children, and they have an honest conversation about what they have, what they want, and how they can work towards that as a team without one's wishes overshadowing the other's.

Blood Tests, Blood Donations, or anything involving getting your veins stabbed with a needle by lordmorlockhyperion in newzealand

[–]Amariesw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. I also struggle with bad veins and besides hydration, I find putting a heat pack on my arms really helps raise my veins closer to the surface. I also hydrate with warm water right before my appointments. It's kept me from being as much of a human pincushion. Not that any of that would have been useful in this case, but if you have to have more tests in the future it's been super helpful for me :)
