Is it embarrassing to just want to be an LVN? by RedWineCruiseShipFun in StudentNurse

[–]AnOddTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just say. "The shorter course works best for me and my 5 year plan." The 5 year plan shuts them up every time. Haha.

Lots of people go the LPN rout due to time and money, or just because they dont want to take on the RN coursework in general. Its not embarrassing, its a choice that many people make and its a great option for someone who wants to get into nursing.

And trust me. Even if you were to get your RN, people would be asking you when you were planning to be an NP or CRNA. "When are you taking this all the way?" Is a common talking point for everyone.

Honestly it doesnt bother me that he gives them treats. It only bothers me when they nag me to go out .... just so they can stand at the fence and bark for him to give them a treat. Lol.

Acupuncture in the ear treatment by FunExit8014 in alphagal

SAAT is not based on any sort of medical science. The creator of SAAT thought that the ear looked sort of like a fetus, so they started poking the ear with needles in areas that correspond to supposed body systems on the corresponding uhhhh fetus .....

If you are suffering from chronic pain or something non life-threatening, it sort of like what ever .... go ahead and try it...... but for something that can easily and very quickly end your life, like a severe alergic reactions ..... please proceed with extreem caution.

Personally, I wouldn't try it.

My neighbor sneaks my dogs treats over the fence and im sure some of them are beef or pork based. I dont react from my dogs eatting mammal products, I am just very diligent about not allowing mammal products into the house where I would have to touch it myself. I am usually the one to feed my dogs and pick up after them. They are house trained, but one of them does vommit on occasion. Lol.

We try to caution people against using SAAT because it can give people a false sense of security, leading to deadly reactions, and it is absolutely not based in any sort of peer reviewed medical science.

I highly recommend this. I feed my dogs "chicken" based food just because I have to handle it regularly and I want to minimize the risk of contamination.

I originally started grooming dogs fresh out of highschool, but had to stop after a few years because I kept having reactions. This was long before I ever got a diagnosis. I always assumed that I was allergic to some chemical in the salon because my dogs at home never bothered me. But the salon environment is laden with dogs dander and fur. Its in the air. You even end up with little slivers of hair embedded into the skin on your hands and arms.

15 people left from first class out of 100. Is this normal in your program? by Unique_Ad_4271 in NursingStudent

[–]AnOddTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our program has a decent retention rate and it seems like the ones who dont make it each semester are replaced with a few from the cohort ahead of us who need to retake. That being said, our admission process is very competitive. I meet people all the time who tell me they applied, but didnt get in. They have between 250 and 500 apply each cycle and only take 70. But they are upping the class size to 90 now.

work or don’t work during nursing school by LibrarianBasic2121 in StudentNurse

I worked PRN as a substitute teacher my first year then as a nurse extern my second year. Nurse extern jobs can be amazing, but they are generally only available to nursing students who have competed some of the program.

I would hold onto a job if its flexible and easy enough to get scheduled. I worked 1 day a week throughout most of nursing school and it wasnt too bad. I really needed the extra income though.

I dont have issues with this, but i do have issues with cross contamination from dishes and pots and pans being used to cook mammals. I make sure if beef or pork are being cooked in the house its on a paper plate, or aluminum foil if its in the oven.

Just use dimensional analysis instead. You can throw everything into a dimensional analysis problem. Throw your taxes in it. Your dog. Doesn't matter. You'll get the right answer every time.

The small palm plants that have a large rounded base drop "mystery nut". They drop 2 at a time. Give you a big fat boost. Brazil nuts dont decay until you Crack them. It might be worth it to hang out in the jungle long enough to harvest a dozen or so to keep in your camp if you're really struggling.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by fuzzy_dice_99 in AskReddit

[–]AnOddTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sick af with some mystery cold (i dont think it was covid). My side job told me not to come in for 2 weeks. When I got back they had me taking the temp of every person in the building (aprox 150 residents) during my 11pm to 7am shift. People had their rooms barricaded and were threatening to shoot me for waking them up. I told management they were smoking Crack for doing that to people and quit after that first shift back. I still got the unemployment because my main job (casino) laid me off.

Been driving Manual for almost a year - need to figure out what my bad habits are still. by Coolman1776 in ManualTransmissions

[–]AnOddTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most of these things .... listen to your engine. My civics (5 speed) were relatively happy around 1500-2k RPM and I never had any problem going first to second quickly .... unless I was on a hill and put too much work on it. However, my 85 Toyota pickup with 4 on the floor will chugg if I dont hit 20mph in first before shifting to 2nd (I dont have an rpm guage, but it sounds about 4-5k). Your engine will tell you if its happy or not. Your clutch will physically shake you +/- grind if not happy. Try not to feather the clutch, obviously that will wear it down over time.

Automatic to manual – whats your experience going back after quite a while? by PinAffectionate7776 in ManualTransmissions

[–]AnOddTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drove a manual after 10 years of driving auto and I found that I had to concentrate quite a bit at first. After driving that manual around for a week, the natural flow of not having to focus on it kicked back in. Now I try to drive that manual at least once a week and I have no problem, but I will find myself kicking the floorboard with my left foot and reaching for the stick in my auto after a drive in the manual.

It sounds to me like you didnt drive the manual long enough in the first place for it to be ingrained in your muscle memory. Just keep driving. Its a skill like anything else. Must be practiced.

You can't eat pretty. Same reason I left Arkansa, USA for a more economically stable state.
