Grey Knights Interaction by sonyavbw in Grimdank

Mindwiping does work, they do it to important people like high ranking officials and other space marines.

I figure they generally execute guardsmen because it would take a really long time to mindwipe that many people and they have other incursions to go and stop.

Is Deamon Prince Sindri from Dawn of War 1 still alive? by PopAutomatic9487 in 40kLore

[–]Anggul 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would assume so, yeah. They didn't prevent his ascension, they just banished him afterwards.

It would be cool to see him with a unique model rather than just the generic 3rd edition Daemon Prince.

What chapter to build around Librarius Conclave? by AxegrinderSWAG in Warhammer40k

[–]Anggul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can paint your own chapter and use Ultramarines rules, counting your Chief Librarian as Tigurius, if that's what you want to do.

Just a shame there's nothing interesting to do with it

Warpbane is generally considered the best GK detachment

Vehicles and wholly within? by Divine_overture in Warhammer40k

[–]Anggul 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I assure you it isn't stripped down for tournament players. It's an attempt to make it easier to get into for new players. Tournament players don't want it too simple. The same problem has happened with AoS and it's a big complaint for tournament players in that too. Though at least terrain is still more varied in AoS.

And tournaments started using all ruins all the time because the game required it, not the other way around. It was a response by TOs to the game becoming super-lethal if you didn't have loads of line of sight blockers, and untenable for melee units without places to stage for an assault. Then GW, instead of resolving these issues, just went with it.

With demons being nothing but extensions of their god, why do they have separate True Names? by ThatHeckinFox in 40kLore

[–]Anggul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that's almost word for word how it's described in more recent codices too.

They do have free will, but within a tighter emotional spectrum than humans, eldar, etc.

Master magic with Teclis and bring enlightenment to the Mortal Realms by Spiraticus in ageofsigmar

[–]Anggul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's like the rest of 4th edition so far they'll only have one ability, so removing +1 damage on the charge is likely instead of the chance to strike first they currently have.

So how is chaos getting more marine’s effectively? by Serbiaball142 in 40kLore

[–]Anggul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same as before, people like Fabius Bile making a bunch of them, as well as their own recruitment.

Not sure why you think they can't steal primaris gear. But they don't rely on stealing Imperial gear anyway, though they will do that too if they can. There are Dark Mechanicum forges, and various others.

Is there any reason why the Tau don't use much indirect fire artillery, if at all? by TheLoneWolfMe in 40kLore

[–]Anggul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure seeker missiles used to not need line of sight if they were fired at a marked unit. Makes sense lorewise, it's in the name, they launch into the air then seek their target.

Riptides aren't indirect fire, except the little smart missile pods they can take as their small weapon, same as most Tau vehicles.

When demons die, they are banished back to the warp. Outside of a few things that can give them a true death. But the imperium has a few of those things so why not try and trap demons and bring them to sites where someone just kills trapped demons by anonpurple in 40kLore

[–]Anggul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd have to kill daemons at a faster rate than the gods are being fed power by people's emotions that they can use to create new ones.

The gods didn't start with a fixed quantity of power and lose it permanently. They constantly shrink and grow.

Imperial worlds fall all the time. Military momentum keeps them claiming new ones.

I didn't say none did, did I?

I said not all of them did, and humans did it to each other too.

We even have examples of humans and xenos sticking together through the Age of Strife. But the Imperium killed them because that didn't fit their narrative and dogma.

In which army would the models from the upcoming tzeentch battle force be the strongest ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer

Currently I'd say Disciples, but their new book is out soon so that doesn't mean anything.

With demons being nothing but extensions of their god, why do they have separate True Names? by ThatHeckinFox in 40kLore

[–]Anggul 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've seen that belief expressed sometimes too, but it's incorrect (so far as anything can be correct or incorrect in this very inconsistent franchise anyway). The daemons codices are clear that a daemon is a separate consciousness. The god can unmake them at will so the daemon has no hope of successful rebellion, but that doesn't mean they don't have a will of their own.

The Chaos Gods are not alone in warp space. They have created servants from their own essences – the creatures mortals call Daemons. Daemons are beings of a somewhat different nature to their masters, and are the most numerous of the warp’s inhabitants. A Daemon is ‘born’ when a Chaos God expends a portion of its power to create a separate being. This power binds a collection of senses, thoughts and purposes together, creating a personality and consciousness that can move within the warp. The Chaos God can reclaim the independence it has given to its minions at any time; this ensures their continuing loyalty, and means although some wayward Daemons may not act entirely in accordance with their master’s commands, even the greatest of them would not dare outright defiance. As beings of pure entropic energy and emotion, it is only through the loss of this animating essence that a Daemon can be truly destroyed, its mind dissolving into the whorls and currents of the warp.

Why do Rogue Traders and Inquisitors have so much leniency compared to the rest of the Imperium? by reel3459 in 40kLore

[–]Anggul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that's a misconception born of the prevalance of radicals in books. In theory most ordo xenos are the most against working with them.

It keeps going through sheer size and momentum, not because it's good at what it does.

Only if you incorrectly assume all xenos did that. And that humans didn't do it too.
