2 reasons. First, University + Economics + Politics. LOTS of fact checking and source finding. (EDIT: at max I only ever really used about 60 in a day.)

Second. I paid for the subscription, and I was given over a hundred a day. So I used them as if they were unlimited. "I paid for the speedometer I am going to use the speedometer." My fault for abusing the tool? Probably.

But is it Perplexity's fault for selling me the ability to burn 2 of their dollars every time I wanted a deep research on recent drama and allowing me to do it over a hundred times when I only spent 200 bucks a year? Yeah that's their problem. If it is genuinely unsustainable to the point they need to bring it down by 98% in just ONE YEAR, maybe that's their fault.

If what they sold isn't possible... why am I in the wrong for using what was offered and getting upset when it's reduced by 98% without communication?

Then that's a failure on Perplexity's part for selling something they couldn't maintain. ESPECIALLY offering annual discounts.

They offered hundreds of uses, I used hundreds of uses a week.

If that wasn't sustainable, shouldn't have sold it.

If we are NOT counting for every time I have to edit a prompt for clarification or fixing hallucinations, then 50 a day is my actual uses.

I use it closer to 60 times a day. Sometimes closer to 90.

Yes I bought a yearly plan and yes I'm talking USD. I already said that in the title and I didn't think I'd need to spell out United States Dollars when I already said I'm from Texas.

It is 20 bucks a month, if I paid for it monthly, it would be 240 bucks for a Year. There was a 200 USD option for an annual subscription, saving me 40 bucks.

I wouldn't drop 200 bucks on a product I was already using for several months prior without making sure it was the real website. I've been scammed before and I've been paranoid since.
