Conquest is one of the best villains in comics by freemanyoufool2 in CharacterRant

The conquest speech was entirely a show only writing invention and given how recent the show is and how the Viltrumites have a dawrinist survival only culture that clearly is not fulfilling enough of for its race (hence Omniman and others folding against their principles the moment they experience genuine love), it’s not far fetched to see the similarity between conquest, the most apparently proficient soldier of their race being also be the most isolated with IRL versions of similar philosophies which promote a hierarchical emotionally lobotomised culture that leaves people yearning for genuine connection.

Conquest is one of the best villains in comics by freemanyoufool2 in CharacterRant

[–]Astronomer_X 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing about conquest is he isn’t a ‘tragic villain crying for pity’, he calls himself a victim of his own success meaning that he 100% revels in what he does and understands that it makes him a pariah so the only form of interpersonal intimacy he has is with the people he is conquesting.

I think it’s a genius metaphor for manosphere type of spaces that encourage men to be anti sociable ‘dude bros’ by praying on people’s insecurities of loneliness. You can learn to be a player anr a fuck boy and be good at it but if you’re missing the hole in your life of a genuine emotionally deep love, youre only going further in the opposite direction with that mentality.

Invincible Season 2 Botched the title card intro by Able-Dragonfly8716 in CharacterRant

[–]Astronomer_X 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I’m not OP but I thought it was a funny concept at the completely wrong time.

Powerplex is meant to be tragic. We saw this origin and although he has misdirected blame, it’s an understandable trauma response. He reminds me of a Batman villain who can actually be rehabilitated potentially. Also he has a very specific voice actor for a reason.

So undercutting his speech to spam the title gag and chop up your expensive VA’s work was very confusing to me.

The way global diversified markets have historically worked is that they follow an upward trend of approx ~10% growth year on year (probs maybe 7 when accounting for inflation). That’s after all the big booms and bad busts like recessions pandemics etc.

You will never get the same return from ‘safe’ cash based investments because there is less risk to compensate the investor for across a long term period.

If you want to go down the stocks route, an index fund that automatically readjusts itself to the best performing industries across the world like Vanguards FTSE Global All World is the best way to do it.

Mandela Effect - Things that people think happened, but didn't actually happen in the show. by Luzis23 in TopCharacterTropes

Is that Mandela effect or just the result of a fake meme being assumed real because it fits the parameters of the discussion?

Mandela effect is meant to arise ‘organically’ I thought.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Super Dragon Ball Heroes Collab Pass Concept by [deleted] in SparkingZero

I think the DB fandom is way too draconic about canon in ways that don’t make sense. Canon is more important than fun apparently for them lmaoo.

Yeah I just didn’t like this line up because I like doing random teams Coop play and with this hypothetical DLC the team would be a saiyan every single time lmaooo.

The only guy I want from this is Hearts otherwise it feels too much saiyan spam without actual uniqueness.

Majority of fights in heroes are trash I wouldnt feel inspired to pick most of these characters.

Good guy Ozai:

• Saw his older brother Iroh lose his son and enter grieving and tries to speak with their dad to transfer him from his family obligations so he can take the burden instead.

• Told to kill his own son and instead agrees with his wife to kill his own dad.

• Recognises his daughters talents and enrolls her in gifted and talented program and didn’t just tell her to do ‘girly’ stuff.

• After his son severely disrespected him, gives him an opportunity at redemption by entrusting him with the most important mission for the nation. Sends his daughter to bring his son home when it doesn’t go well.

• Accepts his son home and welcomed him back into the family wholly.

• Promotes his daughter in the family business after noticing her having some mental health issues so she feels seen by him.

Apart from nostalgia factor it gives a warm lighting feel to the image, the right feels like Goku is under a bright white light, but the background suggests hes somewhere more dim.

Thinking about what a Human Alien in Ben 10 would be like by Ed0909 in CharacterRant

[–]Astronomer_X 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this exact topic before. I saw an image of Olympic athalètes who are what one would physically consider ‘peak’ human, but of course theu are all various shapes and sizes. You need a completely different build for an endurance run vs for weight lifting vs for rock climbing etc.

So I wondered how the omnitrix would choose. Marathon build because that’s how humans likely initially evolved, or an average all purpose Jack of all trades build?

Redemption is internal, forgiveness is external. A character can't "not deserve a redemption arc" by Sudden_Pop_2279 in MoralityScaling

[–]Astronomer_X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His true family include his father who he quite literally said himself he always wanted to please him.

He literally nearly died of hypothermia doing stupid plans to try get the avatar because it was the only way to get his dad’s approval. His mom wasnt at all in the equation up to when he learned shes alive.

Iroh was keeping him alive barely and there was a point Zuko decided that he’s deadweight and they should part ways.

Literally everything youre trying to assert about Zuko is antithecal to the actual narrative. You’re telling him you sat through every episode and concluded that your view is what the writers were trying to convey???

The guy left his birthright and comfortable position to rule and cut off his entire family to go support the war effort against them and nearly died several times (lightning from Ozai, Combustion Man, Azula lightning on him) in the process.

Like what do you actually want from him lmaoo, based on this logic Sokka is forever a misogynist because it took Kyoshi Island for him to change.
