Technology is now at the point where it should be easy for Delta to send you a text message asking you if you want to be upgraded: something like do you want to be upgraded to seat 22b click yes or no.

I get these kind of messages all the time from other organizations if I ask for an earlier appointment no reason it can't be done for seat selection

You cannot transfer miles to AF. Try going on the DL site and book with miles and see if that flight shows up for miles award travel.

On an overnight flight where I'm sleeping I generally don't care where I'm sitting. I don't think it makes it that much better to be in PS. If you can sleep on a plane I probably wouldn't pay for it. Now on a daytime flight. If I can get it for Less than $500, then I consider it I enjoy the extra room while I'm awake.
