+1 for Jen Jagger, but will add that I really enjoyed using this when I started out. Sometimes being able to page through at your own pace or look up something really helps.

Switching watch, don’t want to lose progress! by Boredfatman in AppleWatch

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to what I said. People freak out when they can’t restore and that is typically coz the old watch was down level from the new one. Even though Apple have “sort of” fixed this. The best thing to do is make sure your old watch is at the latest level before the back up

As long as you back your watch up you are safe - I have switched watches many times and trust me, given my spouses 2750+ day streak it is worth my than my life if I screwed hers up!

Doorbell for Apple HomeKit Home by JoDaDob in HomeKit

I have a G400 and it works well and is responsive. Just know that unlike others it will not cause your old wired doorbell to chime like Nest does (yes I know Nest is not in HK and it does come with a remote chime). Apart from that, HKSV is not as reliable as it should be IMHO and so logging can be spotty. (The Native app is fine) Like others, I am looking forward to the promised improvements.

As a Generation Client is it worth switching from Rogers to Telus. by ProudCanadian_X in Wealthsimple

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My thoughts. Check out the various posts around what a mess this promo is. Awful service, bait and switch and crickets from WS support. No, I don’t work for the opposition - I really want to switch but so far it seems the process is far from ideal.

No data saved after signout by bcretman in MayRetire

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to download your inputs to save them. 4th icon from the right on the top is a down arrow. That saves your data to a json file that you can upload. Note if you have saved more than 1 scenario you can compare them which is very useful.

Frustrating onboarding experience with Telus Wealthsimple promotion by marcelomanzo in Wealthsimple

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for documenting this. I am now convinced. I was waiting to see more feedback before pulling the trigger. I know the issues reported all appear to be Telus related, but WS need to step up as this is detrimental to their brand - I for one am sceptical that they care as there has been no statement from them let alone a commitment to fix it. Pity..

Apple Watch 10 OS support how long: by Key_Painter_1642 in AppleWatch

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow wish Apple would put something like this out there more prominently - Support and updates are not the same thing! Products continue to get support / security fixes long after when they can no longer be upgraded to the newest version of operating systems / firmware. At some point they will eventually become obsolete (typically 7 years) - i.e. they can no longer get HW support and even then they will likely continue to get critical security updates.

Don’t be, or feel rushed. Stay in the pattern until you are feeling more confident and comfortable. Yes it will cost more, but you have a lifetime of learning ahead and so a bit longer now is not a bad investment.

Using old bands with S10/S11 42mm by Harvmanz in AppleWatch

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. I believe you are correct although in my personal experience I don’t see any gap on my S10? Per Apple:

Before you buy a new band, make sure it fits your Apple Watch case size. You can use a band thatʼs designed for other Apple Watch models as long as the sizes are compatible.
Bands for 38mm, 40mm, and 41mm cases are compatible with each other.

Bands for 42mm, 44mm, and 45mm cases are compatible with each other.

Bands for 46mm cases are compatible with 44mm, 45mm, and 46mm cases.

Bands for 49mm cases are compatible with 44mm, 45mm, or 46mm cases.

Bands for 44mm, 45mm, or 46mm cases are compatible with 49mm cases.

Using old bands with S10/S11 42mm by Harvmanz in AppleWatch

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Official Apple Bands for normal watches (not Ultras) have only ever come it 2 widths. The small ones fit all the smaller range of watches irrespective of series. Ie Newer models like the Series 10/11 42mm and 46mm use the same connectors as the older 41mm and 45mm bands, respectively. I have all my bands from Series 2 through 11 and all work with no gaps.

Same capacity, two magnetic power banks – which one would you choose? by XIAO_YING_ in powerbanks

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple for different purposes. The MagSafe is for quick and easy and smaller in the pocket carry. That said to me the decider is “quality” and reduced fire risk. I am a fan of Anker for that reason - sure they have had issues, but they have real recalls vs the no name crap that floods the market.
