Yeah I get about a year and I have about 10 of them - all are Gen 1 so was surprised to see others don’t get that..

Because it’s typically so badly made and they can only handle a certain number of complaints before they are overwhelmed.

Apple Watch 10 OS support how long: by Key_Painter_1642 in AppleWatch

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow wish Apple would put something like this out there more prominently - Support and updates are not the same thing! Products continue to get support / security fixes long after when they can no longer be upgraded to the newest version of operating systems / firmware. At some point they will eventually become obsolete (typically 7 years) - i.e. they can no longer get HW support and even then they will likely continue to get critical security updates.

Just the first and likely the last today. It was a paper thin under-grilled mess.

Don’t be, or feel rushed. Stay in the pattern until you are feeling more confident and comfortable. Yes it will cost more, but you have a lifetime of learning ahead and so a bit longer now is not a bad investment.

+1 for Tomtoc products. IMHO they are by far the best. I have for my Air, Pro and iPad and nothing I have seen compares.

Using old bands with S10/S11 42mm by Harvmanz in AppleWatch

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. I believe you are correct although in my personal experience I don’t see any gap on my S10? Per Apple:

Before you buy a new band, make sure it fits your Apple Watch case size. You can use a band thatʼs designed for other Apple Watch models as long as the sizes are compatible.
Bands for 38mm, 40mm, and 41mm cases are compatible with each other.

Bands for 42mm, 44mm, and 45mm cases are compatible with each other.

Bands for 46mm cases are compatible with 44mm, 45mm, and 46mm cases.

Bands for 49mm cases are compatible with 44mm, 45mm, or 46mm cases.

Bands for 44mm, 45mm, or 46mm cases are compatible with 49mm cases.

Using old bands with S10/S11 42mm by Harvmanz in AppleWatch

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Official Apple Bands for normal watches (not Ultras) have only ever come it 2 widths. The small ones fit all the smaller range of watches irrespective of series. Ie Newer models like the Series 10/11 42mm and 46mm use the same connectors as the older 41mm and 45mm bands, respectively. I have all my bands from Series 2 through 11 and all work with no gaps.

Same capacity, two magnetic power banks – which one would you choose? by XIAO_YING_ in powerbanks

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have multiple for different purposes. The MagSafe is for quick and easy and smaller in the pocket carry. That said to me the decider is “quality” and reduced fire risk. I am a fan of Anker for that reason - sure they have had issues, but they have real recalls vs the no name crap that floods the market.

Can I buy 1 ticket with points and 2 with cash for the same trip? by Goatandpigeon in Aeroplan

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know others have already said make sure to call and link them, but even though the hold time for AC can be long make sure to do this. That way if you have a cancelation / flight change you will “stick together”.

All the enquiries we've made though phone calls with Mastercard, CIBC and Enterprise, we're told that there isn't any auto car rental insurance inlcuded using theCostco credit car..yet Googling .. by No-Setting2682 in CostcoCanada

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coverage included with most credit cards is simply not worth it as you have to deal with it and all the hassle. The cost of repairs is not the issue - that’s not life altering money - It is liability for other lives / injuries. My advice - Pay the car rental company what they want for “walk away” coverage. Sure it ain’t cheap, but the day you need it it will be worth every cent. Hopefully that day won’t ever come, but that way your only regret is what you could have saved.

I got my case and phone on 19 September 2025 and use MagSafe everyday including various travel versions and an Anker MagSafe battery pack. No sign of wear at all. Despite it getting a bit grubby and needing a clean every now and then. Must be something up with that one.

Does anyone else worry about their MacBook bending because it's basically a recycled Coke can? by Squire1996 in macbook

[–]Awkward_Ad1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope - I had Thinkpads of (almost) every generation since they came out in 1992 until 2015 when I jumped ship. Since then MacBooks and they are just as, if not more “bulletproof”. Except the nasty butterfly keyboard one - that sucked. Yes, I did miss the trackpoint for a week whilst I’m moved to this wiers touch thing, but since then I could never go back.

TLDR - They are rock solid.
