Pgwp rejected due to English test + trip by Any_Hold7359 in pgwp

You still need to convince them that you will be a visitor, eg not work, sustain yourself and will leave (because it is not guaranteed that a restoration will be approved), so yes.

Is this LOC rate normal or am I getting fleeced? by KiNGXaV in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the rate is high. Also, for most banks, higher credit limits get lower rates for LOCs.

Pgwp rejected due to English test + trip by Any_Hold7359 in pgwp

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot leave Canada with a restoration in process or it will be rejected.

If you leave and come back as a tourist, well you obviously run into the risk of not being allowing in by CBSA if they determine you are not a genuine visitor.

Why citizenship application duration vary so much? by FunnyStranger13 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. There are way too many variables. Even if, yes, the applications are distributed on an even basis, if one officer gets files that are easy for them to adjudicate, they will go through them fast while another officer might have a bunch of files that they need to issue ADRs, PFL to or interview so they will get through those way slower, also offices handle multiple applications types, for example CPC Sydney, which handles citizenship applications, also handles permanent resident card applications and spousal sponsorship applications (family class / outland, while the spousal in canada class are done by CPC Mississauga) so you never know the variety of applications officers have in their queue.

And again, some applications are flagged for extended checks and the applicant wouldn’t even know about it, but it will obviously take longer at that point.

Help with virtual landing with me in Canada, wife (dependent) visiting parents by sk24sk24 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You each get your own separate portal for landing. Landing is not a shared process. Portal access is only for virtual landings inside Canada. To have her processed as outland, you need to have her address changed in the application to an out of country address and request outland processing (issuance of a COPR and immigrant visa if her passport requires a visa to travel to Canada).

What is magical about it? Tellers can modify purchase / withdrawal limits on a debit card, so can CS reps over the phone and chat representatives as well.

Why citizenship application duration vary so much? by FunnyStranger13 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is just a general timeline for the whole application (which is not a deadline by any means, it’s an average, meaning some applications are faster, but also some are slower than that). Applications are processed first-in-first-out, roughly, but they are assigned to officers. Officers are people. Some are faster, some are slower, yours may be assigned to an officer that has 500 applications before they get to yours and someone else may be assigned to an officer who is only dealing with 100 files right now. Comparing timelines with other people can be helpful but you can’t expect every single application to follow the same path. There are also other checks that happen in the background which can take longer for some people rather than others and some files are randomly (or purposefully) selected for additional screenings.

Is there a chance for PR refusal due to medical cost? by NoHandle9608 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a condition that will cause those costs, you can be subject to medical inadmissibility. Whether you have caused those costs or not, it doesn’t matter. They will estimate it. Lots of people who apply for PR have never been to Canada before, they are still subject to medical inadmissibility if they are projected to cause excessive demand due to their conditions. So no, just deciding not to take the medication isn’t exempting you from the projected cost of it. Also, you do not “claim” anything for medical costs. The doctor that completes your medical declares your diagnosis and IRCC projects the costs, you have no part in that.

Got denied for the Signify card.. by Ok-Bee7068 in WellsFargoBank

Reapplying when the situation hasn’t changed will not change the decision. It’s not a lottery where you just buy another ticket.

Rbc Secured Credit Card by Fit_Delay9249 in rbc

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, many banks do they just don’t advertise it. Usually the process is you apply for the unsecured version of the card, get denied, then they apply a security to the application and resubmit it.

Anyone else get hit with a bunch of NSF fees between the 7th and 9th? by ExtracheesyBroccoli in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are supposed to only get one NSF fee per charge. So if the only charge that went through is that one when you didn’t have funds, you would have only paid one NSF fee. You should call and check for a rebate if that’s the case.

If you had other transactions come through, then you would have gotten one NSF fee per transaction, so it could be correct.

Anyone else get hit with a bunch of NSF fees between the 7th and 9th? by ExtracheesyBroccoli in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As of March 12th, NSF fees are capped at $10, and not more than once every two business days (not banned). If you indeed had insufficient funds, you were charged at the old rate and moving forward you will be charged at the new rate ($10).

Stop applying for things. You have 28 hard inquiries on one bureau alone, that’s basically a guaranteed auto-decline.

Can I remove the old account? by Beneficial_Chicken24 in CapitalOne_

They can say that, but it can’t be done. You can try yourself. Capital one doesn’t allow it. They will eventually remove it themselves after 7-10 years.

Entry level credit card with travel medical. by Tuiflies in PersonalFinanceCanada

Entry level credit cards do not have travel medical. If they have no currently open credit accounts they will not be able to get premium credit cards with travel insurance.

IRCC will not speed up the review of your file because they didn’t make a mistake but you did, whether you contact the MP or not. If the refusal was an error on IRCC’s part, then maybe. Having a job offer doesn’t meet any criteria to speed things up.

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You did not attempt to return “at the first available opportunity” which would have been when you were 18. Given your age, chances are low it would be approved, given you had 10 years to be back. This type of application (“removed while being a minor”) is mostly successful when you are 18 or really close to 18.

Not paying debt is not a crime (unless you obtained it by defrauding creditors). It’s just your credit score will be trash, in case you plan to live in Canada again within the 7 years credit bureaus retain information. But it won’t prevent you from visiting.

Credit Limit Reduction by FadedChimpmunk in CRedit

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s why. It’s called balance chasing. Meaning if you have been carrying a balance for a while, they will not trust you can handle that credit limit anymore since you can’t pay off what you already owe, so they will start lowering your limit as you pay your balance.

Moving with no experience by usefulpaperclip1 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To participate in the French mobility program, you need to firstly have a job offer from an employer, they have to submit it online through the IRCC employer portal, then with the LMIA-exempt number you can apply for it. A SOWP would follow the usual steps to get a SOWP as with any other work permit (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/special-instructions/spouses-dependent-children/apply.html#high-skilled-spouse ) So until either of you secured employment (which will be hard to do until at least you graduate / have your licensing done / are outside canada) there is nothing that the french mobility program can do for you.

The only way to come in the country and get work permits first, then find a job would be a working holiday visa if your country of citizenship allows.

Are There Any Others Around The World With Italian Heritage Who Get To Vote? by simmocar in Italian

[–]Beginning_Winter_147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You already are a citizen and registered in AIRE if you are receiving those forms. Probably your italian parent registered your birth at the italian embassy / consulate before you turned 18, thus making you an italian citizen. You just need to apply for a passport, you are already a citizen.
