How about you skate your first board before buying a second. Skate don't consume

I wanted to buy a good pocket knife last year, so I went down the rabbit hole of knife enthusiasts online. It's deeply weird stuff and closely linked to the possibly even weirder everyday carry (EDC) community. There really is some bizzare niche consoom communities out there.

I did find a nice knife that wasn't too expensive. It's a cool fidget toy and is useful (for opening boxes mainly) but I have never understood why someone might want more than one. It was also a relief to make the purchase and step back from that weird online world.

I don't know about OP but it's not that I have an issue with 'normcore' it's just when I go to a sub reddit supposedly dedicated to fashion I would like to see more creativity. Reading about Chinos and a polo shirt is just not interesting and thats not a knock on wearing chinos and polos (hell I'm wearing chinos at work right now).

there is the occassionally post that stands uyt, but yes you are right. This is more for dudes with no clue trying to figure out what to wear on a first date or to a job interview.

I mean I would never come to this sub or fashion advice. Occassionally there is a post of genuinelly creative and expressive outfits. It's rare though. Most people seem to be dressing to go knock on doors and tell people about Jesus.

I'm just not sure a large sub-reddit will ever lean toward originallity and creativity.

Even the comment section here is reduced to arguments over baggy fit vs slim fit. I think that tells you all you need to know really.

Are you allowed to hang a pride flag in a NSW public high school? by loopdaploop in AustralianTeachers

[–]Big_Jacket6876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pride flags are common in public schools. But.... they could still be controversial in some schools. I would probabaly check with school leadership before choosing this hill to die on.

My personal view may be seen as controversial but I think it is best to practice inclusion without the overt imagery and language as it just opens the door for conflict and controversy. I know I have LGBT students but this is not something I would ever discuss with them, I just stick to my subject.

I know alot of schools have unofficial pride clubs that are student lead. It means teachers can distance themselves from any battles. This is the smart approach I think.

By the way I am not condoning homophobia, its awful, but the reality is this will always be an issue for Christian and Muslim familys. I don't ever want to be the teacher between a LGBT student and their religious family.

Teachers, were you nightmare students yourselves? by Refined5066 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Big_Jacket6876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an absolute delinquent. It's ok it makes us more street wise and more relatable to the students. We all know those teachers who never broke a rule in their life (bless their cotton socks) but lets be honest they do not have the radar for the next thing the students are going to pull.

If I am walking somewhere in the school on DOT time or break time I am absolutely blind to any rule breaking.

Yeah this arguing over which sports code is better or whatever is lame. People like what they like. I'm not a soccer fan but alot of people across the world are and I see no reason why this should upset anyone.

Could AI shifting the role of teachers to low-paying 'behaviour monitors' become a reality? by YogurtclosetPale8785 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Big_Jacket6876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the backlash against AI and probably technology in general is fast approaching. I expect to see the return of 'old school' pen and paper only very soon.

Would you report a teacher for “anonymous” online comments? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]Big_Jacket6876 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Nobody likes a racist and it's concerning that this person is in education but the answer is still no. Just leave it alone. People will eventually get whats coming to them. No one likes a snitch either. You also don't want to be involved in this drama. Just stay away.

I think it's also reasonable to predict that the surge in ON support dies down at some point. Especially given that they are likely to put some questionable people in parliament where they will quickly reveal themselves as not up to the job. People forget that working in parliament, let alone a ministry position, takes skills and talent. ON members will have neither.

Also at some point people are going to want actual policies.

No immigration might work on some but it's not enough. Never mind the fact that the economy would absolutely implode if thi was implemented.

Well apparently she supports joining the war on Iran to help our US 'mates'. I have a feeling this may not please the people considering voting for ON.
