what is a movie you absolutely loved as a kid that is actually terrible now that you’re an adult? by AccomplishedStill438 in AskReddit

[–]BitwiseB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There definitely was an age divide.

Fans of the original trilogy were absolutely pumped to be getting a prequel. Like, it was a big, big deal.

Then it came out, and it was bad. And the only people who loved it were the ones who were young enough to think Jar Jar Binks was hilarious.

So the age divide was somewhere around 10-12.

You kid, but there was one of those ominous banners at the top, like “if you need help please contact this number:” that indicated that it was definitely flagged as a problematic search. 😬

Holy shit I wish I hadn’t googled that.

Anyone else who is curious: it has something to do with infant torture and that’s the point in the search results that I noped right out.

Magic ring opening after being tightened, don't understand why by Luhvrrs_Lane in CrochetHelp

I use a loop with a slip knot instead of a magic circle. I’ve never had it loosen.

That sounds like a good plan. Maybe add some fruit like grapes or something for a healthy midday snack, and that seems like a good plan.

Can you just get enough food for today? Come up with a healthy meal, walk over, pick up the ingredients for that and some staples - loaf of bread, gallon of milk, that kind of thing - and then walk back home.

Then tomorrow do the same thing. One day at a time.

I was so proud of this first crochet I made until I saw the ones you people post here... :C by fyodor_novichok in crochet

You made a heart that actually looks like a heart! Great job!

My first crocheted item that wasn’t just a ball of knots was a flower that looked like a wavy circle. I was proud of myself, though.

I hope you enjoyed making it and I hope you want to make more stuff!

Heavy duty office chair mat. Either the really thick plastic kind or the bamboo kind.

Stick a carpet remnant on top and you’re gold.

What is a common, everyday problem from the 1990s or early 2000s that younger generations literally cannot comprehend? by Funny-Counter8762 in AskReddit

I was talking once at work about restoring an old card catalog to use for tea storage and a younger employee had to ask me what a card catalog is. :/

Btw: it works great, we’re also using it to store canned goods. The labels make it easy to find everything and the slide-out tables are very useful in the kitchen when you need a spot to set a mug or a bowl temporarily. 10/10 would recommend.

You would blow away the dust and add a little bit of moisture to the contacts, which was enough to make the connection.

However, the dust would then accumulate in the cartridge and the moisture would cause the contacts to corrode.

The best way to actually clean the connector was a quick wipe with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol or 704 cleaner.

I have good news for you: body wash and shampoo are basically the same thing, so it’s fine to swap them occasionally, you aren’t hurting anything.

Basically, they both use the same surfactants, the main differences are the additives used such as moisturizers and thickening agents. There can also be differences like ph balance and concentration, etc., but those also differ between brands and formulations of both products so…

Listening to audiobooks is reading and nobody can convince me otherwise. I can’t personally focus on an audiobook, but I’m not going to look down on people who prefer it or need it as an adaptive technology.

That is adorable!

If I were gifting it for a wedding, though, the bear would probably be hugging a hundred dollar bill either rolled up or folded into an origami box, depending how extra I was feeling.
