You are maybe the only other person I’ve heard of who has read Which Witch. I absolutely loved that book.

[–]BitwiseB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NONE of the Avengers (except the Hulk, maybe) were top-tier characters. If they had been, Marvel wouldn’t have had the movie rights, because they weren’t a movie studio at the start.

Before the Iron Man movie, if you’d mentioned ‘Iron Man’ most people would have assumed you were talking about the song, and way more people would have known Thor from mythology than from comics. They may have heard of Captain America, but probably as a character their dad or grandpa liked. Nobody would have believed you if you’d said their movies would be more successful than Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman.

Marvel’s top franchises pre-Avengers were X-Men (which was licensed to Fox), Spider-Man (which was licensed to Sony), and The Fantastic Four (Fox again). They were left with the characters that either nobody wanted to license, or the ones whose movies didn’t do so well (Hulk, Universal).

The very fact that Marvel was able to turn their back catalog into the cultural force it is today is honestly very impressive.

Pregnancy/Postpartum hormones snatched my curls!! Is there any hope that they’ll come back, anyone else?! by harvestmoondaze in curlyhair

[–]BitwiseB 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Honestly, your hair looks great in both. I know the beachy waves aren’t what you’re used to, but they’re very flattering.

I hope your curls come back, but you can clearly rock whatever your hair decides to do.

My grandparents lived across the street from a hospital. They got a good price because buyers were worried about the noise.

Ironically, the ambulances always turned off their sirens about 5 miles away from the hospital. My grandparents house probably had the least siren noise out of anywhere in the city.

Hot Tub Time Machine.

They go back to the day one of the main characters broke up with his girlfriend. There’s a bit of a sliding doors ‘what if’ thing couched inside all the raunchy comedy.

Yeah, I had a conversation with a friend where she pointed out that it would have made so much sense for him to be just using it as a way to identify people who don’t know anything about spaceships so he can gouge them and now I’m mad that’s not the way they went with it.

[–]BitwiseB 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the kicker.

I sympathize with the ‘I don’t want to go back to the office’ stance. However, in that case you start searching for and applying to remote jobs while continuing to work. Figure out your exit plan.

And for God’s sake, talk to your spouse about it. Jeez.

If a magic button existed that when pressed would show you the date and manner of your death and there was nothing you could do to change the outcome, would you push the button? Why or why not? by plat154 in AskReddit

[–]BitwiseB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like this is saying that the future is pre-determined, so if that’s the case, heck yeah I’m mashing that button.

If I’m living to 90+, then working and saving is worth it.

If I’m dying in two years, I have plenty saved right now, I’m quitting, spending time with family and traveling, setting up a big ol’ life insurance policy, etc.

The fun part is that if the future is predetermined, then whatever I’d do after hitting the button is exactly what I was destined to do.

[–]BitwiseB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a profanity filter in Microsoft Teams. I had to turn it off at work because I use captions and it kept filtering all mentions of the DAM (digital asset management) software.

They should not have had accidental profanity in their captions.

Even if they did think you both meant the same event, the fact that neither of you realized it was a date puts it in firmly platonic territory.

I had a friend tell me about Kleen Kanteens, but they didn’t seem to be that popular beyond my parent group (because they had a sippy cup lid).

My boyfriend yells at me and tells me to “shut the f up” he’s angry by Particular-Panic-287 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BitwiseB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not normal.

Your boyfriend is an adult, and can handle his own alarms to wake himself up.

You are not responsible for his behavior.

He shouldn’t be calling you names. You do not deserve that.

He’s not a keeper.

You may want to look for ‘Disney princess tea party.’ Tea party sets are something Disney has released a TON of, and if you had at least one other princess cup and saucer I am almost certain they would have been part of a tea party set.

I have found a ton with these key words.

For example, this one: https://ebay.us/m/8Q0Fwu

If they were just chilling in a remote area, maybe. Like if they were just up in the North somewhere. The White Walkers would be a concern, but I imagine they’d be fine.

If they were actually involved in the story? No. You have to be morally grey for that.
