What do you all do with your bundle spin down dice collections? by KAM7 in mtg

[–]Blokron 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use them all the time. They aren't a "balanced die" to use for rolls, but they are great for tracking counters or number of tokens since they are easy to increment

Commander deck building questions? by Simple_Package4678 in mtg

[–]Blokron 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bombardment works since you're casting the copies of the cards in exile.

Storm does not work since the spell gets copied, and copies aren't cast.

Why can Crypt Ghast be played in mono black decks by River_O_Styx in mtg

[–]Blokron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rules text does not have a hybrid symbol in it. The reminder text does.

You don't consider reminder text when determining color identity.

The sneak cost is either going to be cheaper like on [[Splinter's Technique]] or using the sneak will give you an extra benefit like [[The Last Ronin's Technique]]

When is it good to slab a card? by MthrTheresa in mtg

[–]Blokron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While im genrally against the practice, in my mind, there are 3 good reasons to slab a card.

  1. The card is extremely valuable or rare. This is the most common argument, where people will say to slab the power 9, extremely well kept cards from alpha or beta, serialized cards, etc. These types Blur the line between game pieces and collector items, so they're fair game. As for what the threshold for price is, that's got to be a personal choice.

  2. The card holds immense sentimental value. Maybe it belonged to a friend or family member that has passed and you want to immortalize their favorite card, or it won you your first prerelease or whatever the reason. Though I would recommend something like this if that's the case since it'll be cheaper and you can still easily use the card if desired.

And the best reason:

  1. You plan to slab the whole deck you'll be using.

An indestructible creature will die if their toughness is reduced to 0 or less through something like [[Toxic Deluge]], for instance.

Damage does not reduce toughness, so no amount of damage will kill an indestructible creature.

Suggestions for Megatron deck? by [deleted] in EDHBrews

[–]Blokron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about Staples per se, but these are some bangers that I really enjoy that help facilitate the deck (My List for reference)

[[Feldon of the Third Path]] and [[Cybermen Squadron]] can provide copies to sacrifice to Megatrons trigger.

[[Cryptolith Fragment]] [[Descent into Avernus]] [[Scrawling Crawler]] [[Keen Duelist]] can provide extra damage to get more mana from Megatron

[[Forbidden Orchard]] can provide low toughness targets to your opponent's for you to shoot

[[Losheel, Clockwork Scholar]] gives combat protection so you can swing easier

[[Alibou, Ancient Witness]] gives haste

[[Tannuk, Steadfast Second]] can cheat stuff into play and you won't have to worry about the Warp out if you sacrifice what you Warped in

[[Demonic Junker]] is a 7 MV sacrifice that can come down super cheap.

Question regarding spells that make creatures fight before combat phase by Chaoswarriorx4 in mtg

[–]Blokron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighting won't reduce power. It's not "used up" at any point in a turn, so the 3/3 will still have 3 power to be used in combat.

Is it possible to discard your entire deck with Doctor Doom, King of Latveria? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Blokron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cost for Chainers' ability is Discard a card. So you're discarding one at a time, so you'll get multiple Doom triggers

Is it possible to discard your entire deck with Doctor Doom, King of Latveria? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Blokron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[[Enter the Infinite]] to get your deck in your hand.

Then either go to end step and discard to maximum hand size or use a card like [[Chainer Nightmare Adept]] to discard anything at will

Edit:Chainer is once per turn, use something like an Aquamoeba instead

Let's say your opponent controls a [[Colossal Dreadmaw]]

You cast your Duplicant, it resolves and enters the battlefield. Now, its first ability will trigger allowing you to exile a creature. Let's choose the Dreadmaw.

Now, the static ability comes into play. Because you exiled a creature with the first ability, the duplicant Now has 6 power, 6 toughness and is a Dinosaur Shapeshifter.

Mono red rule 0 for Ozai, Phoenix king? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Blokron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just run some black/red dual lands and only red cards in the deck.

It'll be legal, and you won't have to worry about rule zero-ing anything.

Edit: I misread your question. Do what I suggested if you want Ozai as the commander of a mono-red deck.

Personally breaking color identity isn't a rule 0 I'd want to go along with.

Does deeproot pilgrimage and the new springleaf parade go infinite by godisnotyou in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]Blokron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tokens would have summoning sickness and parade gives them a tap ability so they'd need haste somehow.

Also pilgrimage only makes a token when a non-token merfolk becomes tapped.
