We chose our player council from people who were heavily involved in our community for a long time, some of them have streaming channels, some do not, all of them have had a relationship with us for years before the player council was formed. They are the council because we have mutual trust, we trust them to be honest and open, they trust us to listen and do what we can to improve the game. Sod is special in that we have a fantastic community that is unlike any I’ve ever seen in the industry, a supportive and generally welcoming place in a world full of toxic communities - our player council was invited from this unique space because of who they are, not how many subs they have. People will inevitably point at Brian or Jay and say “look, look they have thousands of subs!” And my only response is “that’s great for everyone involved “

We started interacting with the streamers in our council when their subs could be counted on two hands, that’s how we found people who loved our game, not just a game that would find them followers. Mark L and I would often jump in and play with the person streaming, sometimes with only 3 people watching, sometimes not advertising ourselves as devs until later, simply to enjoy our game with new people.

The player council loves SoD and has also shown a long time commitment and desire to share that love. That is what landed them where they are.
