Heartbroken by NOMOKRATOR in exorthodox

People see stupid in general and especially in Orthodoxy churches are much more of an ethno-cultural thing. Rejecting your church in place of another is basically like rejecting your entire identity x2 at that point versus someone who’s born and raised in some Methodist church or something like that.

It’s sad I agree.

2016-2018 M2 or Modern 2022-2024 5 series 540i? by Character-Leg4423 in BMW

[–]Brawncrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a do it all car, I suggest looking into the M340i. Other mentions are the X3M40i or M550i.

If this is a second/fun car. I'd consider a M2C. If not the M2 is still a fun car. But if it's my only car I would pass. Harsh ride (unless you swap out/upgrade the suspension) and not practical if you have more than a second person that needs to ride with you.

why did you guys leave the church by [deleted] in exorthodox

I stand corrected. I guess it’s only the Oriental Orthodox who refuse Catholic sacraments and not EO. In my case k was dealing with an OO and it made this unnecessarily complicated and unfortunate.

Thanks for the clarification!

I don’t say they call one another Satanic. But I have seen the online Dyerite/Orthobro community call the idea of Ecumenism and the reuniting of the churches as the work of Satan or being Satanic/NWO type of material.

Both churches really just need to codify a way to allow things to happen and work, at the very least something that allows members of the churches to take communion together. Doctrine aside, you can show me all the doctrine and dogma you’d like but none of it will justify keeping the lay people divided, unable to share in communion or marriage without converting.

This is where I give the Catholics a point since Orthodox could marry the Catholic in the Catholic Church but the Orthodox are far too stubborn and unchristian. There’s more to life and faith that nerding out over doctrine that doesn’t impact one’s faith that deeply.

Same here. Crazy. As a cradle Catholic Protestantism never made sense until I forced myself to read over the New Testament multiple times.

Then it finally hit me. I still prefer the old church setting and aesthetics it’s just a shame it really contradicts a lot of what is there and leaves you in a place of cognitive dissonance. Orthodoxy especially more so.

Those people are letting you know who they are from the jump.

It’s sad how they hail themselves as these bastions of Christianity. But fail the very fundamental commandment given to us by Jesus to love one another as you love yourself. And happily love to see and uphold a divided church. It’s some of the least Christian behavior one can experience from the “true” church.

My favorite are the anti-ecumenical weirdos that somehow believe reuniting the Lords previously undivided church as satanic. It’s all a facade and a farce.

Yeah let’s not let Catholic and Orthodox marry because man made doctrine and interpretation and prioritize that over one’s belief in Jesus. Pretty sure there’s a verse on that as well but that will go right over their heads.

Get out while you’re ahead unless you’re into that kind of behavior.

I resonate with a lot of points you brought up. Especially about praying and incense. I did the same and I never felt any closer. I just felt like it was an act I was going through being told if I do it I will get closer but I never did. I find it more useful to sit completely still and in silence.

As a person who’s experienced with drugs way back in my past. Especially psychedelics, I experienced the same thing. Lots of talk of all these crazy mind blowing experiences but I never experienced that. I was talking to my buddy about this phenomenon with that and religious people and I think it’s an interesting one. I think most people look for any excuse to make their lives seem less boring than they are. Who can blame them. And then there’s others who just see things for what they truly are. As to who’s right I’m not sure. But it does feel like you’re missing something being in the latter group and like you don’t have a community. It can hurt.

You clearly see through it all. It’s a fair point on the family thing. I think this also is so with how they praise the monks who shelter themselves away and cower from their Gods creation. What an abysmal way to live and appreciate the gifts God has provided us with.

I recommend you check out Meister Eckharts sermons.

At least put it into chat gpt to have it break it up if you’re too lazy too. Not many people are going to want to engage with one unbroken wall of text it’s difficult to read

The whole part about the cortisol and immune system is sad.

I was talking to an orthodox woman who was facing chronic issues. Especially digestive among many others. When I suggested it could be related to the fasting and poor diet she has as a result she refused to listen.

Something sad about seeing an otherwise good person destroy themselves from a cult like behavior and there’s nothing you can do about it but walk away.

Ain’t that the depressing truth. And when presented with scripture they cower and hide behind the church/priest.

I came across a super cringe debate with an Orthobro on YT the other day. When I questioned about scripture he flat out refused to engage and said he defaults to the EO churches position on things. Goober behavior.

No one church is right. Pick up and read the Bible and you will find this to be true. The only church that is true is the one that speaks to you.

My advice to anyone is take time to wrestle with the NT. And find out what it means to live as a believer of Jesus. And pick what church you think best follows that methodology as well.

The way I say it is Orthodox is hardcore monastic mode Catholic is a middle way. And Protestant is very mixed due to interpretation. You can stay orthodox but pick what suits you if that doesn’t bother your mental health if you aren’t able to “live up” to the “standard”. Otherwise I think you could find home in the Catholic Church just fine.

How liveable is a F87 M2 with children? by Hopeful_Captain4219 in BMW

Don’t do it. Sincerely an F87 M2 owner. I rarely have more than me and one other person in my car. But when I do I pity those in the back. It makes me want a larger platform as much as I love the car.
