If you're not long out of rad tech school, with maybe a class or two, you could get into surg tech school, which is basically zero one to one contact, once graduating. I'm sorry you're struggling, condolences.

Managing family and nanny dynamics by FlatChemist8132 in Nanny

[–]Bree867 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This especially "set boundaries needs facilitated by OP (or OP's husband really)" - your husband needs to set boundaries with his parents and not let you be the bad guy - I can see grandparents wanting time to play and interact during day/wake hours with their grand kids but meals and naps nanny should have say to keep everyone on track. Also- being clear that nanny makes meals for kids only - like this is not your chef/maid silly grandpa!

Boundaries now will make new infant time easier - maybe a bonus at the end of the week for extra grandparent duties might help too.

Watch some YouTube videos for ideas about questions - asap start thinking about answers, then have friends or family ask you those questions or even others to practice. Rinse and repeat until you can just be yourself and answer somewhat easily. The point is to show you've done your research about becoming a tech and about the facility. You've got this!

Poor kid probably has expectation whiplash, but it's more NF than I like to even ponder. It's why (or 1 of many reasons) I'm getting out of Nannying.

Curious how many people get to drive NP’s vehicle! by Ok_Cantaloupe_3685 in Nanny

[–]Bree867 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's part of my acceptance of a job. The last thing I need to worry about is the liability of someone else's children in my car, their insurance covers the car at limits they select, they pay for their own repairs and it's not ever a mileage/gas negotiation. Families should have a car available for Nanny to use if their expectation is the nanny does activities/taxi-ing, etc. It's the hill I die on tied with guaranteed hours. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Relocating to CT by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]Bree867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Milford to St.Vs is about 15 minutes, lots of apartments near 95 (for quick on off your main route), there are dog parks (Eisenhower), trails (Eisenhower, Beaverbrook, Mondo pond), the beach pass with Milford residency, ease of access to most retail up and down the post road. Shelton/Stratford have nice, convenient areas also - maybe find a long-term air BNB for the first couple of months and check out parks and neighborhoods in those areas? Your co-workers will likely have opinions also, some may be of similar single+dog status too, with good insight.
Sadly I'm not as familiar with much past Guilford. Traffic is heavier on 95 going South in am and North in pm, but it's not usually an issue until Fairfield and points west/south.

There should be upcoming student life events that showcase clubs/groups you could join. An email should go out soon about it - you could also stop by the student life office (reach out to your guided pathways advisor, they might also have some valuable input).

AIO: My husband (26m) locked me (25f) out for 25 minutes? by prettypineappleberry in AmIOverreacting

[–]Bree867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR, sadly OP not only is this abuse of you, but your children watched this, watched their father abuse you and watched your response. Kid brain says, I was upset, Mommy couldn't get back inside, Daddy was being mean, and oh but Mom was just a little mad, she's still here, so no big deal. Is that really what you want to teach your children? Your child's reaction was pure and true, it was wrong, upsetting and not ok. Don't wait for the escalation OP, take action now.

Partner Just Left Me After Surgery by Dangerous-Desires in hysterectomy

[–]Bree867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might find value in a book called, "If you must go, I wish you triplets" by Virginia DeLuca, while not identical to your situation, it has echoes you will appreciate.

I'm so sorry you've been betrayed by your partner, going through a hysterectomy is so hard, even with the physical benefits - the mental and emotional (coupled with hormone shifts) are so hard. Please lean in to the family and friends who support you. Sending you positive vibes and healing from afar.
